We stayed at this hotel for just one night, as a stop-over during a long road trip. We literally checked in, went to sleep, woke up and showered and left early the next morning.

The hotel had a good location for us...right off of I-25 on the south side of the city. Granted...we had to go about 1/2 mile past the hotel to find a spot to make a U-Turn into the parking lot (you cannot make a left turn into the hotel when coming off the Interstate). But it was easy access back onto the I-25 in the morning.

The hotel is old. It needs lots of updating. Our bedspread was in dire need of being replaced, but just put it on the ground and slept with the sheets. We had a mini-fridge in our room, no coffeemaker, no microwave, no alarm clock. We noticed a trap-door on the floor in the closet, so we moved the mini-fridge on top of the trap door. Also, there was a very strong odor in our room, an odor like they sprayed WAY too much air freshner to cover up another smell. It burned my noise all night.

Bathroom was T-I-N-Y. Had I been staying for more than even one night, it would not be sufficent for my needs. There was NOWHERE to place your toothbrush, deordorant and hairbrush at the same time (unless you want to put them on the top of the toilet...yuck). Certainly not enough storage room for me.

The two staff members I came in contact with were extremely nice.

I guess for just passing through, this hotel would be OK. However, I would not stay here for more than 1 night.

“avoid this hotel”

Rodeway Inn & Suites

This hotel is old and in a horrible part of town. The air conditioning was insufficient, the bathroom was dirty and we couldn't turn on the tv unless the light switch was on. The pool was under construction so it was closed. We checked out first thing the next morning only to find the police driving through the parking lot checking vehicle plates. We witnessed a prostitute just out front making her "deal". It was truly a disturbing experience.

“Beds were horrible”

Rodeway Inn & Suites

May 25, 2008

Don't stay here if you want a good night sleep. I was here just one night on a road trip, so I just wanted to rest up and get back on the road. Well, that didn't happen! First off, the light switch didn't work and only one lamp in the entire room worked. The wall outlet near the beds where the lamps were plugged in didn't work either. Also the light in the bathroom didn't work. Secondly, the flimsy bed the had had no support and the bedding keep coming off the mattrees as I sleep. Finally, the heater was a joke. The thing didn't regulate the air at all. Either it was too hot or too cold; no in between. Bad experience here.

This one is a difficult one to rate. We stayed here for two nights. Hotel is convenient to the interstate (although there is no turn-in lane when arriving). Check-in was a little time consuming as there was only one clerk; but boy was he a good one. Think his name was James and he was ex-military. He was extremely funny and made check-in enjoyable. Later that night he brought us two extra pillows exactly as promised. He also went out of his way to help us get out of a jam as the hotel doesn't offer long distance phone service and we didn't have our cell phone. He also helped with a number of restaurant recommendations. None of these are things I have ever experienced at an Econolodge. Another incredible thing was that the motel offers a great continental breakfast. How can they do this when they are only charging $45 a night? They also offer two free newspapers (local & US Today) and a free single computer in the lobby for motel guests to use. Unbelievable. Now for the things that need improvement. The rooms are dirty. The floor in our room hadn't been steam cleaned in a long time based on our socks getting black when walking around the room. No fridge in the room. None of the outside trashcans were emptied during the couple days we were there (trash was spilling out onto the ground and stacked on the top). People's trash, maid's cleaning supplies, other junk has been left all over the motel's property. The shower head spray in our room was almost non-existent and was a small stand-up (not a tub). They charge money for ice (we had no change the first night). The outside carpet and some of the steps are in dire need of attention; however on the day we were there they were resealing the parking lot, so they look like they are trying. I would say if you don't mind a couple negatives and are price conscious, the price per night for this motel is well worth the negatives; especially if James is manning the front desk.

We stayed here for one night on our way back from Wyoming to Santa Fe. The basic rate was $65 but we had a coupon so we got a room for $40. It was definitely worth the price. The room had only one bed so it wasn't very large, but for one night it was fine. (They do have larger rooms with two beds but they weren't available with our coupon.) They allow dogs for a one-time $10 fee, although you aren't allowed to leave the dog unattended, so we had to take her when we went to dinner and leave her in the car. Luckily she doesn't usually mind staying in the car, but if you have a dog who wouldn't be happy with that, you probably should look elsewhere. Our room had a coffee maker and a safe, but no fridge. There is a small park on the hotel grounds which is perfect for walking dogs. The location is on a commercial strip a few minutes from the downtown area, so it's not very scenic but at least it's close to restaurants and shops. Our room was quiet because we asked for one facing the back. The manager was very nice, petted our dog and gave us some dog treats. My one complaint about the room is the blanket had an obvious cigarette burn hole. There was no way housekeeping could have not noticed that, so it was annoying that they didn't throw it out. Since there was a topsheet under it, I decided not to ask for another one. I would stay here again if I had a coupon; not sure I'd spend $65, although probably any place you stay in for that price will be about the same.
