We chose this last-minute for the advertised airport shuttle and breakfast. While those were provided (in an extremely basic way) and the motel was clean and in good shape, we won't stay here again if we can help it. Reason: THE SERVICE, from the first moment to the last.
*The person who answered our call for the airport shuttle was surly: "Do you have your luggage? You have it NOW? Fine." (phone disconnects.)
*The shuttle driver arrived 25 minutes later, exceeded the speed limit (as in, 55 in a 30) the entire way to the hotel, and at one point ran a red light (NOT a changing yellow light. A not-your-turn, do-not-go-now red light). The exceedingly swift trip reminded us of crazy European taxi rides--not exactly what we had in mind for that particular night. Especially as our four-month-old was along for the journey. (And in case you're wondering why we didn't simply say something to this driver--he spoke broken English and TURNED AROUND--while driving-- to look at us when I started to speak. Yikes.)
*The check-in desk guy put us on the second floor, and refused to move us when we discovered there was no elevator (we were toting a fair amount of baby gear in addition to luggage). When I explained our stroller-bound predicament, he sighed loudly, came around the desk, and muttered, "It'd be easier for me to just carry your stuff up the stairs." He then grabbed a suitcase and marched away, leaving us to follow. (the hotel seemed nearly empty both that night and the next morning, so I'm not sure what the hassle was. Needless to say, the lad did not reappear the next morning to portage our stuff back to the lobby.)
*At check-out, neither the woman behind the desk nor the manager behind her would acknowledge us. We stood through two phone calls and an consultation between the two of them before, during the third phone call, I waved to the manager, mouthed that we were leaving, and set down my room keys (we booked and paid through hotwire.) The woman then set the receiver on the counter, looked at the manager, and said, "Oh...I thought they were checking in." (?!?)
This could be a fine motel experience--perhaps even better than fine--if the staff made guest service and satisfaction the priority. Until then (and at these prices) there are better values to be had in Co Springs, even near the airport.
