“Beautiful setting!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

We enjoyed our time @ The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. The property is amazing and the surroundings just beautiful. Would love to come back another time, but definitely very pricey. Love the fact that the hotel is very family & pet friendly.

We stayed for the first time at The Broadmoor for a business meeting and were a bit disappointed after reading all the reviews. The property is lovely and the service was top notch. What was surprising was the large number of families with children...lots of children so noise was an issue for us. We were expecting a more romantic type of experience. The food was good but not worth the prices. We typically stay at high end resorts so expect high end prices, but also superb dining and this was disappointing.

We have lived in Colorado for years and have always wanted to stay at the Broadmoor, but the high prices were prohibitive. We finally stayed there recently for 3 nights and it was not at all what we were expecting. I'll start by saying that the grounds are lovely and the setting against the mountains is unparalleled. You should go for the day to walk around, which is what a lot of people do, hence the massive foot traffic that takes away from the resort/spa feel. There are people everywhere all the time and it is loud. Plus it is a hugely kid friendly hotel which is great if you are taking the kids but not so great if you are looking for a quiet spot by the pool. The pool itself is gorgeous but it is a kid's pool. What they don't put in the professional picture is the massive slide that is going into it that a kid slides down every 5 seconds screaming at the top of their lungs. There is no place to sit peacefully. On top of that, I waited for 20 minutes for someone to take a drink order even though I had asked the person who sat me down if I could order lunch there. I saw a woman next to me trying to flag someone down the entire time. Eventually I left and went to the indoor spa pool which has a small outdoor terrace area that looks over the golf course. There is a two lane lap pool and a hot tub as well and it’s your best bet for relaxation here. The wait staff are all nice but even at the spa pool it was the same story- young, inexperienced and definitely not what you expect to see at a spa. We are not snobs but at those prices you expect certain things and the service here was not up to a 5 star standard. Plus the service is a theme throughout the entire place- restaurants, bars, spas, and cafes. We got an after dinner drink at The Hotel Bar and sat for over 20 minutes waiting for our unenthusiastic waitress to come back. Finally we had to go inside and get someone to give us the bill, when we would have gladly ordered another drink.
Onto the restaurants- The Summit is the only restaurant on the grounds that is worth going to (I have heard this from other people as well) and the one very positive experience we had here. The food and service are excellent. I have no idea how the Golden Bee is still open, as we’ve been there twice now and it is HORRIBLE. My only guess is that the “authentic English pub” is drawing people. I understand that things will be more expensive at the Broadmoor, but $6 for a tiny cup of corn chowder that was watery and had oil floating in it? $6 for 6 potato wedges that are in “sea salt and vinegar”? No thank you.
Another restaurant that we really wanted to like was The Tavern- it’s such a nice space with a lot of charm. This is the second time we have been there and sat at the bar, and both times the same nasty bartender was our server. By nasty I mean he ignored us, shoved menus down after not even saying hello, slammed drinks down so they spilled on the bar and never spoke a word after. Why this guy is allowed to work at a bar in an expensive place like that is a mystery to us. Huge place and there is no one behind the bar but him and he’s responsible for the service bar for the whole restaurant. They need another bartender with personality to handle the 10 spots at the bar, which is not too shabby considering everyone was eating and spending over $50 a person.
My suggestion for someone wanting a relaxing time is to spend one night at the Broadmoor to experience it, eat at The Summit, and walk the grounds. Anyone looking for a family vacation should definitely go because it is essentially a kid’s hotel. The property and surroundings do warrant a visit though, as Colorado Springs and the buildings themselves are breathtaking.

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better. Ground level is loud in a lot of the buildings with everyone walkin...

From the moment we arrived we felt as if we were receiving Royal treatment. Our bellman took the time to explain the history and more.... The resort is very charming. The grounds are cared for daily. I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I should be able to afford this again, everything is pricey. Room service was excellent, especially in room dining. They really do go out their way to accommodate their guests. 5 Stars for me!

Room Tip: Great views all around

Recently I had the pleasure of staying at the Broadmoore Hotel for a business trip. The hotel is stunning with an old world charm and grace not seen in hotels anymore. The room was very clean and comfortable, the view from our room was amazing, and service was very good. The only draw back for the hotel was the price of food and admenities (day spa). The food at the hotel is good but pricey and you can expect to pay $4+ dollars for a bottle of water. If staying at this hotel you may want to travel off-site for food and stock up on water. Regarding room service it is pricey and on one occasion there was lipstick on a coffee cup and some dried food left on a water glass which is the reason for 4 and not 5 stars.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in the main building for a better view of the mountains and lake.

From the moment you are greeted at the front gate by name and the sweeping drive to the valet you know this is a very special experience. Fresh cut flowers in all the sitting areas, marble restrooms in all the public areas, an infinity pool with attendants who set up your towels and offer ice water with cucumber, a water slide for the kids, a world class spa, golf courses, restaurants and boutique shopping. The staff at Charles Court went as far as to send out a chocolate dessert for our 38th anniversary with a congratulatory message written in chocolate on the plate.
This property has by far the best grounds of any I have ever visited. I feel my body relax because I know The Broadmoor will take care and pay attention to every detail. I have never had a moment of dissatisfaction from the windows that open to allow fresh air and the electronic drapes to a TV in the bathroom! The smallest convenience is not overlooked.
Next year there are going to be some more remodeling. This year a bowling alley was added, a facelift on the Tavern restaurant and a complete redo of the Golden Bee pub. The fun is in the details.
Visit The Broadmoor! I have for ten years and cannot wait to return.

We had a very enjoyable stay at The Broadmoor. Service and accommodations were top notch. This resort is located in a secluded area of town, so it really feels like you are getting away from the city. If you want to eat at some of the finer restaurants on site, you will need to pack a jacket and tie. Unfortunately we were not aware of this dress code so we had a limited choice of restaurants. During our stay we ate at the Tavern which is in the main building and the food and service was excellent.
