“Large Facility with ConnectIon Challenges”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

I attended a conference at the Elegante, a Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza until three years ago. This is a sprawling complex designed to accommodate multiple concurrent large group gatherings. Low group rates are a primary draw. The meeting rooms vary greatly in acoustics and temperature control. Bring a jacket in April and May.

The staff try to please. But the volume of customer needs exceed management's willingness to staff the hotel properly. Or perhaps there is incompetence.

We stayed in room 1550. It has been comfortable and is very well maintained. The shower head was tricky and management does not assure that the spray setting is appropriate, so be careful. It is the furthest room from the hotel's central civilization. So far neither wifi nor television reception are reliable. The longest tiling-free TV signal we had our last night was 59 seconds.

Our 10:00 pm call for TV help failed us and a second call to the front desk at 10:30 was equally disappointing. On the second call I inquired about the hotel's policy for timeliness of engineering response. I was told, "Why the engineer is standing right here. I'll send him now." I sit here 45 minutes later, 1 1/2 hours after the initial call. No show.

This property has problems. Staff seem willing to help but clearly have little if any control of quality issues. Buyer beware.

My brother-in-law was taken ill during his trip from Georgia to his home in South Central CO and when he reached Colorado Springs was admitted to a local hospital. We live in W. Colorado and arrived the day after he was admitted. We chose Hotel Elegante because it was near the hospital and the route between them was easy to navigate. What we found was a hotel that was much more than just a place to stay. Over the next 5 days we found caring, compassionate and extremely accommodating staff at the front desk, in the restaurant and at every turn. Our rooms (several times we had to extend our stay or check out and then re-book a room) were extremely clean and large and with very comfortable beds. The shuttle drivers were very professional, friendly and made getting to and from the hospital much easier. While the menu at Rustlers was somewhat limited, it was tasty and well cooked and presented. While we didn't use it, the indoor pool was lovely and well used by adults and children. The hotel is very large and a bit of a warren of hallways, but the instructions and illustrations were very clear and we had no trouble finding our way around. There are green spaces with picnic tables and walkways. This establishment understands the terms customer service and we will be returning to stay there again under less stressful circumstances.

Room Tip: If, as we were, you are interested in a quiet room, try the odd numbered rooms in the N. wing. They...

We arrived on Monday afternoon and check in was fast and friendly. The inside pool was in a beautiful surrounding. The corridors in the hotel were a little confusing but I would still stay there again.

Oh wow!! Horrendous! This hotel or should I say nasty motel is full of college kids on constant Spring Break and drunken people shouting in their rooms! The carpet is like something from the hotel in "The Shining". Do everything in your power to avoid this motel and stay at The Doubletree across the highway. Unless you are a drunken college age kid who wants to run up and down the halls disturbing everybody who actually has to sleep and get up and work the next day. Just an awful motel with freezing cold rooms and a loud highway (I-25) to add to the intense noise of this awful place. The staff is not great either.

I attended a conference at this hotel and although it is an older property it is in very good repair. Being a little older the rooms are bigger than normal, well appointed and with comfortable mattresses. Maintenance and cleanliness was acceptable and the staff always polite and helpful. It is a large, rambling hotel where a GPS may be helpful at times but it has all the amenities I needed and the restaurant food was great.
The hotel is well suited to families and large gatherings and it is right off I-25.

Room Tip: Check in before parking your car - your room could be a long way from the front entrance.

This place is a best kept secret! It's huge and very clean. It's nice and totally self sufficient. There is food, sweets, and a bar. There's places for the kids and an indoor pool. It's just perfect. Super fun to explore as well but don't get lost

The hotel is a rather large hotel and we were there as we had a Soccer Tourney for grade school kids. Apparently this is where all the kids stayed as it was teaming with kids running around. If your wanting quiet seclusion this is not your place but if you want other kids and families this is an okay spot. Many things for the kids to keep entertained which is a plus. Usually families, however, have food to store and there was no refrigerator so consider that. The staff was great to work with and very accommodating.
