My husband, 9 year old, and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza during a tradeshow that my husband attended. The rooms were very nice (at first glance), the staff was polite, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate hotels that use comforters and duvet covers. My big issues were that it was not well maintained, there was a leaking ice machine that made a huge puddle that no one cleaned up for several days, the pool was peeling paint, and the restaurant was not so good. The creepy thing was the amount of black hair on the bed sheets; I picked them off before my husband saw, it was late (the sheets seemed clean other than that, and it was only in one bed), I just tried hard not to think about it. Attention to detail would make all the difference between okay and great at what should have been a nice hotel.

“Room service & restaurant are the stars of this otherwise mediocre property.”

Crowne Plaza Hotel

Oct 16, 2008

Thibodeaux's restaurant in the lobby is the star of this property. I eat at 100+ restaurants a year on business, but I will remember this one. Excellent prices, portions, and service. Breakfast buffet featured crisp fresh melon, pineapple, and mandarin oranges, as well as superior cinnamon rolls, bacon, eggs, and hash browns. Room service dinner featured some of the best collard greens of my life, better crab cakes than in Baltimore, a crisp fresh and imaginitive side salad, and an ample crawfish poboy. Both table and room service were exemplary of the finest hotels.

The remainder of my stay was mediocre. Pretty property with nice "Holidome"-style indoor pool area, but this was overshadowed by a memorably incompetent and uninterested hotel staff. I would stay here again, but only for the food & restaurant service.

“no one loves this hotel”

Crowne Plaza Hotel

Oct 13, 2008

Nobody loves this hotel! The staff is "nice" but ineffective. While it covers the basics, it has no soul. A broken fridge sat out in the hallway and leaked water for 2 days while we were there. It was miles to the pool form our room and it was very lightly staffed.

We had to stay here....we were going to an event at the hotel. We had to change rooms. Our first room smelled horrible! My sister had to change rooms, the ceiling was caving in. My parents changed rooms too. Once we all got rooms they were fine.
The staff at the desk was mostly rude. On the second day our room never got cleaned (and we didn't have the privacy please sign up), When my husband called to get it cleaned they told us there was only one house keeper and they couldn't clean it! The internet in the lobby didn't work at the desks set up to use your computer at....you had to move around the lobby to find a spot.
The kids loved the pool.
