“The Breakfast Club”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2014

Check-in: The guy in the front was very friendly and courteous; he was helpful for just about everything. Deserves to win "Most Respectful/Respectable 2014" award, hands down.

Room: A lot of points deserve to be docked in this department. Our room had a giant cover on the window, which can be manually moved to the side, but still gave the sense of shadiness and uncleanliness. Speaking of uncleanliness, one of the bins had a used diaper, but thankfully management took care of it well.

Amenities: There's a swimming pool (trust me, you won't miss it when you walk in to check-in) and a few more places, but all we really used that night was wifi and the TV, both functional.

Breakfast: If I list all the food there, it would probably crash the site. All I will say is that the omelettes are to die for, along with most of the food offered there.

Notes: A lot of points were to be docked room-wise, but the breakfast recovered most of the points. Good food at the start of a morning can really turn a frown upside down! In the end, this isn't exactly hotel quality, but definitely worth to check out.

I loved the pictures on the internet. i guess my expectations were too high. the biggest problem was that we had no housekeeping service over the weekend (almost 3 days). our stay was 8 nights. we called for towels, and although the front desk promised to relay our request to housekeeping, the towels never appeared. I called several times, every time with a promise from the front desk, but the room was not cleaned until late Monday after I talked to the housekeeper herself in the hall.
The pool was cloudy and heavily used.
Also, we ate at Falcon's the hotel's restaurant, two nights in a row. the second night I had the pasta special. the sauce for the pasta was the tomato basil soup from the night before!
The breakfast was pretty good, with many choices.

Room Tip: The Mountain View Dream room we had did have a good view - to the right. the view to the left was a...

The Academy Hotel is a great place to stay. Comfy beds and great pillows, a very clean room. Very kid friendly for all ages. Adult friendly with drinks and a relaxing sitting area around the great fire place, and the abortarium atmosphere is just beautiful. The complimentary breakfast is a very nice start for your morning. Omelettes made to order, hot foods ,cold foods, juices. I don't think there was anything missing for your breakfast taste and preference. All very good.
Oh and did I mention if you book directly with the hotel you get a 10.00 voucher to use at the restaurant lounge. The indoor pool is also outstanding! Customer service was top notch. Very helpful and so kind. A must stay hotel. And pet friendly. Oh and delish ice cream too. What more can I say. Enjoy your stay here, you will be glad you did.

Had to get a room for the night, it was very expensive considering I could have found another hotel nearby that was cleaner and nicer for a lower price. Front desk person Jaton was not negotiable neither customer friendly as I have been around General Manager's and watched them operate their hotel with guests and willing to accommodate the guests with a smile. She was all business no nonsense and didn't seem to care about the rate I was showing her quoted on Hotwire. Most places would have at least matched the price. I was not a happy customer and probably will find another hotel to stay next time I am in Colorado Springs.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors altho you have to walk a ways to reach and elevator...corner rooms seemed...

Green Features: The room shades were dusty and seemed to need a thorough cleaning, extra pillowcases looked like they had not been changed from previous guests as they were wrinkled not fresh and smooth as on the bed.

The location of this hotel is great. There are lots of restaurants around and Walmart is across the street. On the plus side, checkin was a breeze and the rooms were nice and cold. Bad side, rooms were not adjoining. The curtains are blackout so that made sleeping very nice. They give you $10 coupon per room for the restaurant. Save it or use it for drinks at the bar or ice cream. The pool was average sized and was in a fenced in area in the atrium. The looks of the place were cool with a sunken living area with a fireplace to sit around. Obviously, it is an older hotel and you can tell from the interior. The room was a good size, beds were comfortable and the bathroom was adequate. I liked the soap dispensers in the bathroom. Very convenient. There were some sketchy looking characters that stayed there at the same time we did and the hallways were dark.

Like I said, there is a restaurant there and you get a coupon. The food was awful. I wanted it to be great because the waitress was awesome. They did have an awesome clam chowder on the salad bar but that was the highlight. The breakfast buffet looked awesome but the family said it wasn't that great.

For one night, this is probably fine. The complimentary water in the lobby is a nice touch and the kids can play Wii in the lobby. Definitely a family hotel. Could see baseball/softball teams staying here. Very easy access on/off I-25.

Room Tip: Book the family suite ahead of time. Executive tower is probably nicer than regular rooms.

We held our family reunion at this hotel for the 2nd year. Once again I can tell you it is a wonderful place to come. The staff is wonderful and very accommodating. Rates offered to us were very affordable.

Green Features: I like that they have recycling bins everywhere. I also like the fact that the rooms have dispensers and not the little bottles of individual shampoos and soaps.
