“Great people, great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014

The Academy is a very nice, clean, and especially friendly place. It is adjacent to the Air Force Academy but more importantly very convenient to 25 and the main roads. The breakfast is great and the restaurant for dinner was very convenient with good food and great, friendly waitresses.
This was our first time in Colorado Springs, I think we lucked out with this motel.

Green Features: As far as their environmental practices, the Academy went above and beyond any other motel or hotel I've ever stayed at. I was impressed.

We used the Academy Hotel as the base hotel for our wedding. The staff were extremely helpful with organizing a block of rooms to be available for our out of town guests and all their various needs, The hotel is conveniently located to shopping, restaurants and medical care if needed. It is an older building that could use a renovation but nothing that would keep a person from having a great time. If something is out of order, the staff makes it right immediately if they can. Patrick, the chef, presents an unbelievable breakfast buffet and his charming personality starts your day off in just the right way. The only down side to this hotel is the WiFi. It was difficult for me to use. Others in my party did not have the same problem so maybe my difficulty was in the location of my room or operator error. If you are there on business you might want to check with the desk for assistance if needed. i would highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Colorado Springs.

Room Tip: We used both the Jacuzzi rooms and Leisure King rooms. Jacuzzi rooms were large, 2 room suites and w...

I stayed in this hotel with my family twice now within the last month (due to family death, service, etc.). This hotel is the best - AWESOME price, location is up North - beautiful area, close to shopping, staff is amazing, Falcon's Bar & Grill has amazing food and drinks, pool is perfect, rooms are clean and comfy! The breakfast speaks for itself - nothing like it! The omelet bar is amazing and love the guy behind the omelet's! What a wonderful way to start your day - great breakfast with such a friendly smile and conversation - truly the BEST!

Room Tip: The executive tower is the best

Great location and property is well cared for. However property does need to be updated as things are beginning to show ware and look dated. Breakfast buffet was well stocked and had good variety, the omelette station was less than desired due to amount of oil used in cooking pans.

Love the place very comfy, very nice staff.

One very upsetting thing the Hot Tub/Jacuzzi not being heated. I actually choose your hotel for the local the beauty and the out door hot tub/Jacuzzi and than I find its not heated, I am sorry to say that could make me never stay again or recommend.

Room Tip: Better food quality for breakfast and a heated hot tub

This is our second consecutive stay at the Academy. During this visit I had numerous issues with the cleaning staff. On the date of my arrival I checked in just past 4pm. My sons and I unloaded our car and brought everything to the room only to find the housekeeper in the hall laughing with coworkers and our room still not ready. After 10 more minutes she completed the work. On our second full day we returned to the room to shower for dinner after a long day. We walked into a room, after 430pm, that had not been cleaned. The beds were not made, trash wasn't emptied, dirty towels on the floor, etc. I called the front desk and asked only for towels. We left for dinner and returned to find the room cleaned. But, when I went to shower that evening I noticed that the washcloth that I started to use was one of the dirty ones that were on the floor. I had slightly dampened it the evening before to wipe off my face from hiking. The dirt was clearly visible on one side. On our final full day we returned at 330pm to clean up only to find, once again, the housekeeper just starting to clean the room. It was over 20 minutes before we could get into the room to clean up and head back out. What I don't understand is that at 8am in the morning the housecleaning crews were out and about cleaning rooms not but 50 feet from my room every morning. I can overlook one incident but multiple shows a trend. Whether they're understaffed or it's a case of "you get what you pay for", this falls in the laps of management. Staffing at the front desk, at the Falcon, and the breakfast crew were efficient and friendly. Why would you allow the cleaning group to be a hinderance?

The attitude of the staff was always very friendly, and the place was very well maintained. Basically they provide lots of value added stuff (meal vouchers, an indoor pool and a restaurant/bar) to make up for the dated rooms. Clocks were ancient digital radios, the bathrooms were old, the AC unit was super old. However I would stay again for sure just because of the positives I mentioned above and the obliging staff.
