“Will stay here again.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2014

We stayed here for the better part of a week on our recent trip. The hotel was extremely affordable, in a great location, and really great in accommodating my family. We have two young kids, one of which was teething, and they put us in adjoining rooms on the top level in the back corner so we could have a quiet area while not disturbing other residents. The atrium was great for walking around and exploring with the kids, and the swimming and arcade area was a wonderful distraction as well. Hands down the best part was the breakfast - they had a huge spread with made to order omelets and tons of other options. That saved our family a ton of money, and it was delicious. My complaints are few - they use memory foam mattresses which I'm not a fan of, but that's my personal preference. The other issue was the outside security card reader on our stairwell was temporarily broken and anyone could just walk right in, and sure enough, one morning when we went to leave there was a vagrant sleeping in the stairwell. I'm sure once that's fixed that won't be an issue! Loved the hotel, and we will absolutely use the Academy again.

Room Tip: If traveling with kids request the upper floor in the back corner away from the street - it worked g...

I absolutely love this hotel! All activities are in a central location which makes it family oriented. The service is always wish a smile and the food is delicious! The bed was exquisite...I didn't want to get up but then I would have missed out on the wonderful breakfast.

While I was nervous because this hotel isn't part of a chain, I was pleasantly surprised. While the hotel seems a little bit older, the service and amenities more than make up for any minor flaws.
The indoor pool was well stocked with towels, open 24 hours a day to adults and good sized.
The fitness center had decent equipment and was well maintained.
The highlight for me was the breakfast. It was complimentary with the room and was impressive in quantity and quality, omelets, waffles, potatoes, biscuits and gravy along with other more standard fare like cereal was available. The service at breakfast was phenomenal, and in general the service from the staff was friendly and excellent.

Room Tip: Go for a room further away from the atrium if possible to minimize noise.

Green Features: The rooms had the standard cards asking you to turn the lights and air con. off when you leave the room and asking to reuse towels if possible to help the environment

I couldn't believe my luck when I got to this hotel and checked in. This hotel is like a resort. Super clean rooms, memory foam mattresses, awesome friendly staff, great restaurant, great breakfast (chef was insanely nice)- can't say enough about this hotel. Will be back for sure.

Got back to the hotel and the roof was leaking in the room! The front desk said that maintenance was already aware of the leak. (If your aware of a leak in a room, you don't rent it out to people!!!!) They had also been in to clean the room that day and did not say anything about the room leaking either. Had to change rooms, and in the end didn't even get a discount for the problems. We always went here, but after such awful treatment, will not be going back!!!

I usually only stay at hotels I know about, like the big chain hotels that require quality standards be maintained, but this was situated close to the Air Force Academy gate and everything I saw on the website for the hotel seemed to be very nice so I made the reservation. I am soooo glad I did. I was more than impressed when I arrived, I was blown away. Not only with the absolutely beautiful hotel "mini-city" on the inside lobby area but the staff was amazing! Every single person on the staff from the check-in crew to the bar & grill personnel to the chef cooking our eggs to order at breakfast the next day was extremely pleasant, polite, helpful and went out of their way to make our stay a wonderful experience. And the rooms were very nice. Loved the tempur pedic mattresses and product dispensers in the bathroom instead of soaps and bottles gone to waste. The carpets looked brand new and were beautiful. The bar & grill was great and the morning breakfast was delicious. All in all we had one of the best stays we've ever had while traveling on the road.

Room Tip: I have absolutely nothing to complain about.

Green Features: I loved the product dispensers instead of all the wasted soaps and bottles. And even my to-go box for breakfast on the road was a green-recycled type box, love it.

The Academy Hotel Colorado Springs might not be the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in but it sure has a soul!
The bedrooms are a little bit too old for my taste and the breakfast was not too great.
The staff was excellent and very friendly, especially John at the reception!
Definitely will come back again!
