Family of 4 enjoyed hotel! Breakfast was delicious. Wait staff so helpful. Evening happy hour good deal, cheap food. Drinks weak and not worth the $, bartender had to look at the menu to know how to make the drink. Room clean, ammenities nice.

On our recent trip, my wife and I stayed in hotels in Durango, Colorado Springs, and Aspen. The Academy Hotel in Colorado Springs was by far the best. The staff we dealt with were all very good (including behind the desk, cleaning, and restaurant staff). It has a great breakfast, a very good family restaurant, and a nice pool. The 3 nights we spent there were the best of our trip. The Academy Hotel is a great family hotel and a great value!

Room Tip: Our room in the tower (2nd floor, North end) was very nice.

Loved the room. A little dark, but we didn't stay there to hang out in the room. The threshold going into the bathroom was very slippery. Room was very clean, tastefully decorated, and quiet. The restaurant was good, breakfast was great.

Good value for the price. Breakfast is excellent. Room was clean, and good size (Tower room with king bed.). Lots of towels of good quality. A/C was noisy, even on low speed. Didn't cycle fan off when room was cool.

Room Tip: Tower executive rooms seem to be the newest. Book directly to get a daily coupon for $10 off in rest...

The Hotel was over all beautiful, I love how the lobby looked, so welcoming. My husband and I stayed in tower, it had a beautiful view. The front desk staff was very friendly, except for the dark haired girl, she always had an attitude when I would kindly ask for good places to eat around town. When booking threw the hotel's site you receive 10 dollar dinning vouchers for every night we stayed, which was awesome. We ate there all three nights having two different servers. The first night we had a young girl with dark long hair, I think her name was Brianna and she was amazing, so friendly, had our food out right away. She even recommended things to do during the day around town. Our second night however was terrible our waitresses name was Michelle she was rude and when I asked for a refill on water she sighed and said I guess, I over heard her complaining about me and my husband to another server. She was rude the rest of the meal. Although I enjoyed my stay at the beautiful academy hotel, I wouldn't go again after having such rude service from Michelle.

Our family of five stopped here on our Colorado/New Mexico vacation and were pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was given the inexpensive rates. Hotel staff was great with home baked cookies at the front desk during check in and extremely nice staff---I think the guys name was Richard and he was beyond friendly. My husband and I were able to have a peaceful meal at the hotel restaurant while watching our kids swim in the 8 1/2 ft swimming pool situated right beside the restaurant---there were no walls dividing the pool and our table. Then we ordered pizza when the kids were done and took it back to the room. The next morning we enjoyed a great breakfast buffet with an omelet station. The cook, whose name slips my mind, was extremely friendly giving us tidbits of local info and a delicious omelet. Great place!!!!!

The Academy Hotel was the site of our annual family reunion. We've had this event at various locales in Kansas and Colorado, and this was a perfect venue. The staff was courteous, helpful and accommodating to our large group. The gathering room (a small meeting room) adjacent to a courtyard was a good spot for everyone to enjoy each other's company. The restaurant was great for dinner, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. Our room, a two-room suite, was great for us. Kids enjoyed it, it was clean and everything worked well. Catering for our large luncheon was well-done. Pool area was spacious by today's hotel standards. It's wonderful to see a place with an indoor pool that doesn't overpower the rest of the facility with the humidity and chlorine smell. The hotel layout is a bit confusing (buildings that don't connect, no elevator access in some), but the staff provided good parking direction. There are lots of first-floor rooms, as well as elevator access in the largest section of the hotel. With our room on the second floor but very near the stairs, it wasn't a big deal to carry things up the stairs, though an elevator would have been welcome. WiFi was the best we experienced on an extended trip.

Room Tip: Two-room suite was a great option for spreading out -- kids could be tucked in while mom and dad rel...
