“Business Luncheon and Meeting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

Twenty-four of us held a luncheon meeting at The Academy Hotel. We had the Tex-Mex buffet. It was held in the Rockies Room. We arrived about 20 minutes early and our room was fully prepared with pitchers of iced tea, water, and coffee. The food was very good and the service was exceptional. Paige and her team did a great job of having the buffet set up a little early for us and at keeping the pitchers of tea and water full. Great experience.

We stay here all the time. We often attend athletic events at the USAF Academy and this hotel is very close. The rooms, swimming pool, fitness center, food, and employees are excellent.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience and please accept my sincere apology for not meeting your expectations. I pay close attention to all reviews and my Staff and I work very hard to make each and every guests experience at The Academy Hotel a positive and memorable stay. I will follow up with the Catering Director to hopefully better understand the service issues during your event in September. I’m positive I could have found a room type that would have met your needs had this been communicated to me while you were here. The Academy Hotel is a 200 room full service Hotel and has three wings, all of which have been renovated and/or updated within the last three years. The Executive Tower Wing has four floors which are served by Elevator. The Tower guest rooms all have been fully renovated within the last three years and feature new furnishings, carpet, wallpaper, art, flat screen TV’s, triple sheeted pillow top beds with lots of pillows and black out roller shades. We also have a Dream King upgrade in the Executive Tower which features memory foam mattresses and 42” flat screen TV’s. Large Jacuzzi Suites are also available in the Executive Tower. The Leisure wing and Pet Friendly wings are two story wings and the second floor of these Wings is served by stairs. These rooms have received new carpet within the last two years, fresh paint, black out roller shades and triple sheeted beds. Our Leisure and Pet Friendly rooms are clean and well suited for the value oriented Leisure Guest. The Atrium Lobby, Corridors and the Restaurant (Falcon’s Bar and Grill) renovation was completed in 2010 and feature new floor and wall coverings, new Front Desk, Business Center, Fountains, Fireside Lounge, Fitness Center, Arcade and a freshly refinished pool. We are a Family owned and operated Hotel (since 1980) and work very hard to try to provide each of our guests with a memorable experience, warm personal service and modern amenities. It is my hope you will see fit to give us another chance on your next visit to Colorado Springs. I am confident we can find the right room type for your needs and could transform a disappointed guest to a loyal customer. Thank you once again for your valued feedback.
Sincerely,
John Wilkins

We have stayed at the Academy for many years, all the way back to when it was a Radisson. We feel the the hotel today is the nicest it's ever been. The upgrade in the way breakfast is served, the lighted trees in the restaurant area, the lit candles, the extra coupons given to us upon arrival, the lemon or orange ice water in the lobby, and the extremely friendly employees make this hotel a great place to stay. We can't wait to come back.

Room Tip: The executive tower I think has larger rooms. Ask for one that faces the mountains.

I brought my triplets here for a mini vacation and had a great time! They loved the pool and had such a great time! There was a slight issue when the fire alarm got pulled, but we can't blame the hotel for that.

We stay here every year for at least one night (this year we stayed two), even though we're local. We get a suite and our kids/grandkids get rooms newarby. Our kids and grandkids play games, eat, and swim and hang out together! It's always a great time.

The only thing that was amiss this time was that the pool was over 100 degrees and was very chemically imbalanced. Our kids were itching and developing rashes if they stayed in there too long. Also, the outdoor hot tub was freezing, and there was frozen ice all around it and on the stairs leading up to it (very hazardous).

We had a wonderful time anyway. The buffet breakfast is bar none, featuring an omelet bar in addition to many great items.

Room Tip: We love the executive jacuzzi suite. It has a little kitchenette and a huge master suite with a jacu...

My boyfriend and I chose the academy for our New Years 2012/2013 getaway - and wow was it better than I expected! The breakfast was incredible, a lot of food and not your average continental breakfast. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. The pool was indoor and heated (yay!) and the hot tub outside was perfect in the snow. The room was very clean and nice. The bed in the king (where we stayed) was waaaaayyyyyy comfy. Like crazy comfy. Not too far from Manitou or the Garden of the Gods or Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, so good location so you can have some fun in Colorado Springs (: We'll definitely stay again!!
