“Over priced!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2014

My wife and I spent time at this resort for a wedding and we were both VERY disappointed. Our room cost $200.00 a night and we were only offered the two queen bed room; for an extra $20.00 we could have upgraded to one king but we decided against it. Upon our arrival we pulled up to the front door of the resort in order to check in. After parking the car, a valet walked up to my wife and I (I wearing a suit and my wife in heels and dress) and instead of asking, he stated "I need you to go park your car in the lot". When I told him that we were there for the wedding and that we were staying the night he stated "That's fine, you still need to park your car". After wanting to freak out on the valet we then got to our room. After getting inside we could not believe how trashy the room was for $200.00 a night. The floor had rocks on it , the tissues were just stuffed back into the box, and there was nothing in the fridge. My wife and I are not big drinkers but it was wierd not having a loaded bar in a room that costs so much. My suggestion to anyone staying in the springs is to save your money and go someplace else.

The resort rooms are very tired and dated. The resort grounds are just beautiful as are the views. Unfortunately it seemed that the resort was not fully opened. For example there was no pool attendant or poolside service. Walls also seem to be very thin as you can hear people walking in hallways and above us.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We visited in mid-May intentionally to avoid peak season crowds in Colorado Springs. Weather was variable: 70's when we arrived, snow storm the next day, then slow warm-up to 68 over the course of a week. After a warm welcome in the Lodge and directions to our building (many rooms are in buildings separate from the lodge) we settled into a room with a wonderful view of Cheyenne Mountain and the resort's golf course. We used the rest as a 'base of operations' for trips to many outdoor activities (lots of hiking options in the area) and returned each evening to relax. We thoroughly enjoyed the first evening by fire pit on the Lodge's open air terrace watching the sunset over the mountains and enjoyed drinks from the Will Roger's lounge. The next day it snowed, so we visited the fitness center (wide variety of equipment and options including Crossfit-style equipment) and had a great workout. Dinner in Will Rogers Lounge, and watched Stanley Cup playoff game on enormous projection TV. Mountain View Restaurant was very good for Breakfast and Dinner. Rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. We recommend this for couples who want a comfortable, relaxing environment. It can be a bit expensive for families if you always eat on the property, but there are plenty of food choices within 5-15 minutes drive. Beautiful scenery.

Room Tip: Recommend being on the top floor. Ask for views facing south or west (Mountains or golf course)

We love your review. No matter what the weather around you, you made the best of your time here and made every moment of your stay pleasurable. Nothing makes us happier than to hear a guest enjoyed their room and so many of our amenities along with our restaurant too. We hope you will be back for another stay with us at Cheyenne Mountain Resort when in need of some more relaxation time.

I was at the Cheyenne Mtn Resort for a conference. Yes, this is an older property but I'm not complaining. The views are beautiful and welcoming! My room may have overlooked the parking lot, but it was obscured by aspens (just lovely). The bed, bedding etc. was very top notch and comfortable. I felt very well in the room. Food at the conference was top notch. The hotel added plenty of good touches. The flavored waters in containers in the lobby was thoughtful and pretty. Service from the valet to the front desk was super and all the staff was always ready for a hello. Sometimes NEW is considered to be better, but don't overlook age and wisdom, especially when it works.

Thank you for putting a smile on our faces this morning! We know how important it is when traveling away from home on business to feel welcomed and comfortable. Our staff here always tries to go above and beyond for our guests because they know feeling good away from home is an absolute plus and little touches can go a long way! We’re glad you enjoyed your stay with us at Cheyenne Mountain Resort and we hope to be welcoming you back again someday soon.

The surrounding mountain views from this resort are spectacular. And the resort takes full advantage of them with decks and large windows in their fabulous lobby, restaurant and meeting areas. These are the outstanding parts of this resort. However, the room we were in in the Cripple Creek bldg was small and outdated with a very small balcony. The bathroom needs a major over-haul. The room is really not a 4 or 5 star. more along the lines of an older Holiday Inn. However, the resort landscaping, pool area, firepits, restaurant and deck areas definitely made up for much of the disappointment we had with our room. I can recommend this resort for those things. Just have realistic expectations about your room. The staff was friendly and accommodating from the doorman who met our car to the wait staff in the restaurant. A good stop for us for sure.

Room Tip: Perhaps the main building has the renovated rooms which we were told about. I'd ask for the newe...

We stayed at this property the last weekend of April. The staff here is very good and very helpful. It is in a very beautiful setting but I'm not sure it deserves a four star rating. First off when we arrived someone was letting their large dog relieve himself about 15 feet from the main entrance which showed no class at all Not the hotel's fault. There are not too many walking paths & what there is are very steep. The beds are too soft & have a very heavy comforter between two sheets so it's very hard to sleep comfortably. There is no book to tell about the hotel & no menu for room service. The do not disturb sign is cute but bangs on the door when it's windy out & turns over easily. The room we stayed in had a very nice balcony but the rooms a a little noisy. We were on the second floor and were awakened more than once by what sounded like and elephant walking around in the room above us. Over all we had a nice stay & would stay again. Another resort we stayed at in Tucson in February was older but in better condition & classier.

Room Tip: Chose a room on the top floor is possible

Accompanied my spouse to conference at this unique property with simply stunning view of Cheyenne Mountain and the Rockies IF you are on the patio or your room is so situated. But beyond the view the resort lacked in several areas, including walking paths throughout the property, a changing room/restroom at the closest hotel pool used by families. The indoor bubble-covered pool was in dire need of some paint on rusted exit doors as well as some pool lounging chairs for guests waiting for lanes to open up or between laps. Outdoor spa was open in April, but an awkward location out of the building. Some of the harder/tougher bagels were served on a buffet table each morning. Two double beds rather than queen beds or 1 king-sized was all that was offered, making for crowded/cluttered rooms and yet less than generous sleeping. Excessive quilts, pillows, ottoman, easy chair and a stuffed bear (for sale) added to more stuff and clutter. Ground floor room looked straight into the parking lot, and from the looks of the locks and bars, and bent screen door, looked like bottom floor rooms may be subject to break-ins from the parking lot. Cute but dysfunctional "do not disturb" room sign swung continuously into the opposite position--so housekeeping knocked on the door when we were sleeping and failed to make up the room when we left for the day. Separate sink outside of bath was useful, but need to get over the need for freestanding sink cabinet with little counter space, sharp corners, towel loops (that fall off the wall) and useless baskets on top--just need counter space, storage space. Hotel seems subject to "over-design" while ignoring basic hotel room needs--elbow room, counter space, some kind of decent view out the window, and especially a nice pedestrian path around the grounds that offer such fabulous scenery.
It is a nice property in a simply remarkable location, but might want to address some practicalities.

Room Tip: A room that isn't limited to a view of the parking lot would be nice. Try for upper floor and v...

We are glad you were able to get away and relax while your husband attended a conference here at Cheyenne Mountain Resort. All reviews whether positive and otherwise are greatly appreciated as it helps us to better focus on areas that may need to be addressed. While we understand our hotel did not meet your expectations in some areas, we can assure you that break-ins are not an issue here. Also, we have several different room types available with king, queen or double beds as listed on our website accommodations page. Thank you for your feedback, your comments and suggestions will be reviewed with our team.
