My wife and I wanted a steak dinner, but we didn't want to go to a really expensive place like "The Famous." We thought we'd give Saltgrass a try. The servers were attentive but seemed to be inexperienced and confused as to who waits on what tables, and what table gets what dish.. My salad appeared to have came out of a bag and looked like it had been sitting outside the refrigerator for several hours. Our steaks were flavorful and properly cooked, but not particularly juicy or tender. I think the menu's description of the steaks as "certified Angus" is a round-about way of saying "choice", rather than "prime." It's probably impossible to offer prime steaks at the prices Saltgrass charges. Our experience here has made us come to the sad conclusion that in order to get a really great meal, we have to go to an expensive restaurant, and thus, go out less often.
