We really enjoyed our stay at the Colorado Springs East Holiday Inn Express. We had a 3-night reservation here as we vacationed in the Colorado Springs area. At check-in, the clerk was quick and efficient. All of the staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful. This property is very new, and so it is in very good shape and very clean. The amenities are modern. There was a nice convenience store adjacent to the front desk were snacks and toiletries could be purchased. This hotel was close to lots of nice shops and restaurants, many of which were within walking distance. The hotel has a fire pit out in the front parking lot, which was very nice, and a unique amenity for a hotel to have. We sat out by it and had a "bonfire" one of the nights of our stay. The indoor pool was nice but we wished they would have had a whirlpool. It doesn't seem real common for a hotel to have an indoor pool but no whirlpool. The breakfast was amazing. There were so many choices and they even had pancakes in addition to our favorite Holiday Inn Express cinnamon rolls. There was ample seating in the breakfast area and the hostesses were real friendly and kept up with the crowds. Everything was perfect with our stay until the 3rd night. We returned to the hotel for our 3rd night after a long day exploring Seven Falls and Garden of the Gods to find that the room had never been cleaned or gotten maid service. The clerk at the front desk did not handle this situation well at all. He said there was nothing he could do, as the maids all leave by mid-afternoon. We felt we should have been moved to a different room--the hotel was only about 50% full on our 3rd night. He offered to bring us clean towels, but that was it. We had to keep going down to the front desk to ask for more soap, shampoo, cups, and other supplies that would have been replenished had the room been serviced. We also had overflowing trash in the room. The clerk also accused us of keeping our "do not disturb" sign out and that was why a maid did not clean it. We never put the sign out though. If it was not for the room not being serviced for our 3rd night, I would have given the hotel 5 stars. We would return here without thinking twice, but they need to make sure all rooms are getting cleaned every day. It was not fun returning to a room that was not cleaned.
