“Fun idea, poor execution”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012 via mobile

Mongolian grill is a great idea but Hu Hot has poor execution. We waited to be sat (not a long wait, however) and while we were waiting, I counted SEVEN empty tables. No explanation was offered, although the hostess did thank us for waiting. Service was extremely slow once we were sat.

Egg drop soup was mediocre at best-very bland and tasteless. Great offering of sauces and not a bad selection of veggies.

Restaurant leaves a lot to be desired for cleanliness. Table was sticky and the counter at the grill had puddles of liquid that no one cleaned up. The bar to get your stir fry together was also not very clean.

Food was pretty tasty and the chefs were awesome. They were friendly and one of them had fun with his spatula flipping skills.

We may go back and give it another try but not for a couple of months to see if they can get their act together. But, if there is no improvement next time we go, we won't bother going back.

“Make your own stir fry”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

Asian salad was good and buffet style of choosing meats, vegetables, sauces to make your own stir fry and watch it cooked was a fun experience. All you can eat and for the dinner price, go hungry to get your money's worth.

“They handled our dinner for 40 with no problems”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

We reserved their private room for a dinner for about 40 folks. They assigned 2 waiters to take care of us and explain what to do. Most of us had never been to a Mongolian barbeque before. These two did a great job.

You assemble your food from a big selection of meat, fish, and veggies in a bowl. Then you put several ladles of sauce (mix an match from 20ish choices) in the bowl and hand it to a cook. The cooking team cooks it, along with about 15 other people's bowls, and hands it back to you. Very fast and the food is piping hot. The bowls are not large, but you can stack as high as you want and go back as much as you wish. Most of our party made 2 trips for the dinner -- this was fine since most people tried something different the second time around.

The meal also came with soup or salad. I was not a fan of the hot and sour soup (the spice mix didn't thrill me) but the people who had the Asian salad were very vocal about how good it was. Bowls of steamed rice were also included.

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

Our family has eaten at HuHot Mongolian Grill this month and will not be returning again. We like the concept of choosing the foods to be cooked together on the grill and then the sauces, however, the bowls are way too small and hard to handle. A customer is allowed to go back through the line without limits, but the time involved in getting the food, putting sauce on the choices, and then waiting for the food to be cooked is extremely time consuming. When small children are helped with the selections, we could not do ours at the same time. Trays for families would be useful. We only saw the waitress twice - when we arrived and the end when she brought the check. Dessert was not offered. A dinner at home would have been much calmer. This restaurant is not handicap friendly for those who have trouble walking or standing for extended periods of time. We would definitely not attempt to bring our Senior family members to HuHot. The price for lunch for 2 adults and 2 children was $35 (plus tip).
