“1st Class experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

We arrived an hour before check-in on Thanksgiving 2012 and were immediately impressed with this beautifully restored historic building in the heart of Colorado Springs. It has a grand and well furnished lobby with a very warm atmosphere. It gets better. The lobby desk managers who handled our reservations know something about hospitality! This was one of our best hotel experiences -- the rooms are fantastic (we had a corner suite with huge curved windows), with a great bed, plenty of counter space, and luxurious bathroom. The hallways are wide with gorgeous original artwork. We would highly recommend this to our friends and family.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

My husband and I decided to take a spur of the moment little trip to Colorado Springs with our 10 month old daughter.

The staff were all friendly and helpful upon our arrival.

We had requested a crib for our baby, and when we arrived in our room it was set up with clean linens.

Our room was beautiful and very clean. Cleanliness is the most important thing to me in a hotel, and so I was pleased about that. The bed was very comfortable.

The one thing that kept me from giving this hotel 5 stars is the loud party directly under our room. I called down to the front desk and was assured that the party would be ending at 10:00. 10:00 came and went, with the loud music still thumping and keeping us up. I didn't appreciate the party or the fact that it did not end when we were told it would.

Other than that, a great stay at this hotel.

After finding out the night was non refundable,I found the bar did not have Guinness, baileys, patron, Jameson, and quite a few other liquor a you would expect to see at a 4 star joint. There was Johnny walker blue though...$50 a shot. So a 750ml being just over 25 oz at 50 an oz that's $1250 for a bottle that runs around $250 give or take your local dealer.

The front desk staff were fantastic, the bar staff downstairs were courteous, the staff in the ball room were clueless and rude, slow, frazzled. They did however take away empty dishes promptly. The taste of the chicken/fish was amazing by the way.

The room was ok, looked nice, looked clean but felt like it needed a vacuum when walking barefoot, we didn't let our kids crawl on the floor. The lights were nice, separate reading lights, room lights, even a fan on a dimmer switch.

The bathrooms were super clean and fancy with the towels all folded, the color schemes, it looked 5 star at a minimum.

We are not certain what happened since both our bars have all selections mentioned and the liquors are actually visible on the shelf, even if our bartender was not aware we had them. We are sorry for any confusion regarding this incident but have no explanation since we keep all those items stocked at all times. We appreciate all input and the comments regarding staff and rooms in particular. We certainly would be glad to make certain that on your next visit to one of our bars, we make the situation right for you with whatever you were unable to find that night. We hope the rest of the stay was pleasurable and again, thank you again for your input.
