“Great Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2009

Close to everything we needed. Food, Walgreen Laundromat, garden of the gods, views of Pikes Peak, hwy 24. The staff was very accommodating as we used this as our base motel for 4 days, left for 4 and then came back. We trailered our motorcycles there and the staff was nice enough to let us park our SUV and trailer while we drove all over COlorado. The rooms were clean--our bathroom was on the small side and internet was iffy at times but overall it was a good hotel.

This Motel is half a block from 30th Street that goes to Garden of the Gods and a two and half blocks from Highway 24 that goes to Pikes Peak. Also, there are many fast food chain restaurants, a 7/11, and a Walgreens drug store close by on the same road. Across the street is The Mason Jar restaurant which I would recommend. The service at the motel was helpful and friendly. Our queen-sized bed room was not very big but well kept.

My wife and I had my brother coming to visit us in Kansas City and we decided to drive to Colorado Springs and spend 5 days at the very last minute to show him what the "Rockies" were all about. We have a 60lb dog that we brought along with us and this motel has a few rooms set aside for families travelling with dogs. There are no size and breed restrictions that I know of as long as the dog is well behaved.

Our room was on the second floor at the end of the building with a large terrace with a table for 4-6 people out front of our door shared with the room next to us. The room has a microwave and small fridge. The fridge was large enough to store a couple of two litre bottles of soda and a gallon of milk along with some other items. I must say that our room was spacious. Two queen size beds, a table with two chairs, a desk/ chest of drawers and a night table between the two beds. We travel with a large crate for the dog and there was plenty of room to walk around it. The motel is a little on the older side but it is well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. Since we had our dog we requested that no one enter the room while we were out and the staff found ways of getting us fresh towels and toiletries when they could catch us coming and going. I also found the motel to be quiet. I slept soundly every night. I never heard any noise from the room next to us or from the parking lot while in our room.

The views from our room of Pikes Peak were amazing. The location of the motel was great. Very little driving done to many of the attractions. Most of the attractions were in the same direction of the motel. Plenty of restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Manitous Springs is right up the street with even more shopping and dining.

As far as wifi, our room was not within reach but we were welcomed to bring our laptop into the office and use the wifi there all we liked.

We will stay here again.

We had a second floor room - it was clean and comfortable. It had a small microwave and a small fridge. It was a warm day/evening, so the air conditioning was very welcome. Right close to Manitou Springs, too. We'd stay there again, for sure. There was wi-fi available in the room too - great! And the staff recommended a very nice Italian restaurant just 2 blocks away - Paravicini's Italian Bistro. Great food - definitely would go there again!

The 4 of us stayed at one of their cottages which had 2 rooms (3 beds), a microwave and a fridge. The bathroom/shower room was plenty big. Everyone was friendly and knowledgable about the area. We had a beautiful view of the mountains from our own front porch. Everything was clean, housekeeping was excellent. THe indoor heated pool was nice, too. We enjoyed being close to everything. There was a nice restaurant across the street within walking distance. We would recommend it to anyone wanting a reasonable and close place to stay while in Colorado Springs.

We were very pleased with the Garden of the Gods. We had a tough time booking a room at the last minute in Colorado Springs, given that it was Reunion/Parents weekend at Colorado College. We went with the Garden of the Gods due to Tripadvisor comments and price. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. We love the neighborhood of Colorado City, as well. There are good restaurants and cafes nearby. Also, downtown Colorado Springs is a short drive away.

Maybe if we were on vacation and weren't relocating from Hawaii (a big move) and my husband wasn't just starting a new job, it would have been ok. We started here based on cost and it was cheap. But here's the good, the bad and the ugly.

The good...
I'm happy that we started out at a motel in Old Colorado City. The motel is conveniently located to access routes, restaurants, coffee shop, and grocery store. Shopping and hiking are both nearby. And access to the city is a breeze. I love the area.

The bed was firm (good news as I have back problems) and the bathroom seemed clean. There was a small table and chairs next to the bed.

The bad....
The room was crowded as we had excess luggage due to the move. We had to unplug either the TV or small fridge to plug in the microwave. Fridge was tiny. The carpet and bedspread did not seem clean (you know that feeling of a filmy, oily residue).

The ugly...
Thin walls welcomed the party next door into our room on a Thursday night. (First night we had neighbors.) A truckload of workmen sat outside and late at night migrated into rooms next door and upstairs where the party continued. Even the TV sound came right in the room. The party kept going past midnight but not all night.

We relocated the next day to a more expensive hotel that caters to longer term stays and business travelers (we read all the reviews here first). We were trying to save money by selecting an inexpensive motel (under $50 per night) when we selected Garden of the Gods, but the noise was just too much for us.

So, over the five nights we stayed at Garden of the Gods motel, we found that our experience varied depending on our neighbors.
