“Small overpriced portions with nominal service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

I was taken to the TAPAteria by collegues who assured me I was in for a treat, what I didn't realize was the treat included very over-priced wine, tiny food portions, nominal service and a bill over $200 for 4 people. What they should have said was "it's you're treat".
The location is great, nestled in OCC with very nice decorations. The menu is your place mat which makes it easy to order as all items are photos, the wine list is extensive/expensive and while the food does come to your table quick it SHOULD they are portions small enough to leave an infant hungry. I'm not a noob to tapas, this wasn't my first time paying over $200 for a dinner with wine and, while I am cheap, I don't mind paying for quality, Maybe things have improved since April...I haven't been back.
I will say, if you are in OCC, go ahead and stop in and give it a try. They have an excellent concept and are trying to bring some 'city-life' to the Springs.

“A Nice Surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2011

My teenage daughter and I had dinner at Tapateria over Thanksgiving weekend. The restaurant is small, warm, and cozy, and accommodates perhaps 30-40 people. It is in the old town section of Colorado Springs on West Colorado Ave., so it is an ideal place to eat after you have roamed the shops in the area. It is convenient to the Broadmoor Hotel and several other landmarks in the south end of Colorado Springs.

There are perhaps 35 different tapas to sample, and these are evenly distributed among meat, fish, vegetables, and salads. My favorite was figs with sausage, and my daughter loved the carne tacos. We also shared a delightful cinnamon gelato for desert. Tapateria has a large wine list, and the servers (casual and not overbearing) are happy to recommend pairings.

Prices are reasonable, and there is little chance of over-ordering because you can continue to order tapas until you are full. This restaurant deserves your patronage.

“Good atmosphere, Spanish-style”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2011

I love Old Colorado city. This place has good wine and drinks in an upbeat, casual atmosphere. Not a place for a quiet date night, but meet friends and eat tapas to your heart's content. The staff was wonderfully friendly. The space is small but intimate. There is also a nice outdoor patio for warm summer evenings. Would definitely go back.

“Interesting food choices, just not all top notch”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2011

There are a number of interesting food choices in appetizer sized portions. Of course most of these have a Spanish theme and are pretty good. But being there with three other people who are Hispanic and very familiar with the way a number of the meals should be prepared and tasted I was able to get a home grown assessment of the food. Some were good, others not so much. I would say that overall the restaurant is worth a try, the service was good, but the atmosphere was a little tight-they certainly has a tough time dealing with a party of 8.

“Cozy and cool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2011

Very tasty tapas at this lovely place right in the middle of old town Colorado Springs. We enjoyed tapas and a large pitcher of sangria. Great service, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Nice backyard (probably even nicer in the evening with lights and what not. Cool touch having the chefs grill in the yard. Would go again for dinner!
