“Great Two Night Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2010

Given the other Trip Advisor reviews I would not have chosen this hotel. The other reviews paint a picture of a very mediocre experience. However, via the forum, several Trip Experts suggested the hotel for its location to downtown Colorado Springs and its proximity to Fort Carson where we were visiting our son. We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. First, we were given an amazing upgrade to a suite on the 13th floor. This will positively color my review of this hotel and not sure that all of the rooms were as nice as our upgrade. The windows opened fully and the beds were so comfortable. The staff were amazing with suggestions for restaurants. We had an issue with the fans in our rooms and the maintenance person came immediately to fix the problem. More importantly she had great suggestions regarding hiking trips. We took her advice regarding hikes in Cheyenne Mountain Canyon and were very pleased. The hotel is within walking distance of many fine restaurants. We were there on a Monday and Tuesday night and almost all restaurants were open. Other posts mentioned the homeless people on the street and sadly they were correct but we were never bothered by any individuals.
I liked this hotel and would stay here again. There is a parking fee which we paid out of convenience although you could find street parking. We didn't get to the fitness area in the hotel although the pictures looked great. This is a great centrally located hotel.

We had reserved our room 4 months prior to our trip and guaranteed late arrival as our plane was arriving at about 11 PM. When we got to the hotel, we were told that they had no more rooms and that they were full. After much argument they sent us to another hotel for the night. Having family in the hotel business, we know that all reputable hotels always reserve a couple of rooms for emergencies. We discovered that another couple attending the Navy reunion we were there for got the same treatment. When we came back to Antlers the next morning, we told the desk clerk that the hotel had been "incompetent, unprofessional and unethical. We had made a contract with them when we guaranteed our late arrival and they had made a contract with us when they accepted our reservation. They did not honor their contract." Luckily we had a nice desk clerk (the only one we encountered during our stay) -- our room was upgraded and we were given a small credit at the bar. She also said she would have the manager call me so I could repeat to him what I had said to her. He did not give us that courtesy. In addition, most of the clerks were cold and uncaring if not down right rude. They were certainly not interested in helping their guests. In addition the soft drink and ice machines did not work on most of the floors. The hotel is lovely but not easy to find your way around - a map would be helpful.

We had a corner king room. Great wrap around windows with views of Pike's Peak. Room should have had a few more amenities like a room safe, and an ottoman for the lounge chair, also more dresser drawers. Maid forgot a few things each day which we had to request. Size of room, view, and windows we could open for fresh air were big plusses. We got the room for 170 a night which was a good value. Very good pool and fitness area.

Overall very good. The rooms are a bit small, the prices a bit high and the front desk staff a little blase. On the other hand it is very clean, convenient, has all the facilities needed. My phone and internet didn't work at first but a very gracious professional gentleman came within minutes of my call and got it to work.

I just stayed 3 days at this hotel. It is in a good location downtown and close to major highways. There are many restaurants within walking distance. The rooms were fine and had a nice view of the mountains. I requested a king which was not available the queen bed room was okay. The pool in this hotel is a nice size and they gym is AWESOME!!! They definitely had one of the best gyms I have been in. You can actually laps in the pool.

The breakfast at this hotel was really good. The fruit was fresh and even the pastries were not the normal run of the mill. The breakfast buffet which came with my room has several hot items and was probably one of the best I have been to.

The only one thing I didn't care for was the some of the front desk staff. They seemed to be friendly but not. It was weird. The best staff were at the restaurant and the bellman/valet parking. They were helpful and friendly. The four stars for service are because of the bell only.

I would go back to this Hilton. One thing to note is downtown has a lot of homeless people walking around at night. The good thing about the Hilton is that it was a little further removed it even though if you walked a few blocks you would see them. They are not aggressive though.

I stayed at this Hilton as part of a large group attending a local workshop and would not recommend it to fellow travelers. I like the Hilton brand of hotels and services. This hotel does not live up to that brand. First, the good news: the location in downtown Colorado Springs is great and the restaurant servers and breakfast were wonderful.
Now, the complaints: When I checked in on Sunday evening, starving, the gift shop was closed. It is apparently closes 2 days a week and has limited hours otherwise. I asked if I could purchase food or drink and the clerk said drinks were available from the machines on each floor and pulled out a box of candy bars from which I could purchase a snack. I had to pay cash and could not charge it to my room!
The decor in the hotel is drab. There were peanut shells scattered along the corridor to my room. I had a corner room (window views on 2 walls) but the views were of other buildings. Per other traveler comments, make sure you ask for a corner room with a view of the mountains. The room was drab. The paint on the bathroom door was chipping (i.e., there were flakes of paint on the bathroom floor), the tub was chipped and there was a pink stain on the wall behind the toilet. There were small stains on the carpet. The clock radio was not backlit so I could not read the time at night. The lighted mirror in the bathroom did not work. Wireless internet service was not available. There was a cathode ray tv sitting on a dresser, with limited channels available. The flat screen tvs in the exercise room were more modern that those in the guest rooms.
Let's talk about the exercise room. Upon entry, I was excited. There was a ton of equipment, free earphones, personal flat-screen tvs at each cardio machine and it was not very crowded. Very quickly I learned that not all tvs got reception and not all equipment worked, so my fellow travelers and I all used the same treadmill and elliptical machine.
For a "discount" rate of $165 a night, this was a very disappointing stay.

We stayed here after some relatives booked a room in the hotel. The location is nice if you want to do things in downtown Colorado Springs. We ended up doing more in Manitou Springs so didn't take advantage of this. It seems much more oriented to business folks than tourists. Having said that, I was shocked that the hotel had no in room wireless internet. It was a pain having to go to the lobby. Also, our rooms had the smallest bathrooms we've seen outside of Europe- No way we could fit two people in there at all. Kind of a older hotel with some recent upgrades but needed more. Also, paying for parking seemed crazy.
