I've stayed at this Antlers Hilton twice with my son, and just booked again for next month, because it is the host hotel for the USA Climbing Youth ABS national championships. We get a discount group rate, and many climbers and coaches stay here so it's practical.
But, the hotel is quite well-worn and dingy, and the first time we stayed there (April 2012), there was actually no wifi. In 2012. It's not that it wasn't free, there just wasn't any wifi available. I couldn't believe it and complained. The manager said they were working on getting it. By the next year they had it, but you had to pay for it, like many hotels.
The staff is always very professional and pleasant.
There is a pool, which at times gets kind of gross looking, as I rarely have seen staff tending to it. The kids love the hot tub.
Their breakfast buffet is pretty good, with delicious made-to-order waffles and omelets. I actually LOVE the waffles. There's something interesting about the batter that makes them really light and tangy.
I'd definitely look at other hotels in the area if you want more luxury. But if you just want a good hotel that's convenient to downtown, this will do.
