“Beverly Hills Motel was extremely dirty”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

It took us almost 30 minutes to register at the front desk because the owner wasn't coherent. We finally gave $100 cash because he wasn't cognizant enough to process the credit card. The room was dirty, the television didn't work, and the toilet flooded the first time we flushed it. This place could be great if someone would put some love and energy into it. I found staying at the Beverly Hills Motel a health concern because the housekeeper even told us there had been a flood in our room. After the toilet flooded we were afraid to walk on the carpet and slept with our sleeping bags on top of the bed.

I made reservations for a one week stay and drove my family 14 hours to Colorado. On arrival we were very tired and anxious to get in the room. After waiting for some time at the front desk the owner appeared with no shirt and started talking about being in a war. I told him who we were and even pointed to the reservations written on his calendar which clearly indicated the price I was quoted. He then said that price is too low lets start negotiating. So my husband and I walked out and drove next door to the Rainbow Motel. The Rainbow Motel was awesome we loved staying there.

We found the motel on-line and drove past it a couple times when we stayed elsewhere in Manitou Springs. The outside of the property is wonderful, very clean and quaint looking. It was quiet with mountain views to the west, chairs to sit in under trees, beautiful. The person at the front desk was very friendly. We should have looked inside before reserving the room. The inside of the cabins need major updating. Our cabin smelled horrible, even after we sprayed room deodorizer several times and opened the 2 windows and door. The carpet was from the 70's, matted and dirty looking. The refrigerator was rusted around the door, and froze everything we put inside it. The room A.C. was old and noisy and took forever to cool a very small space. The cabins could be wonderful, if they were painted, new carpeting installed with updated kitchen appliances and A.C. It was very inexpensive to stay compared to other places we've stayed in Manitou Springs. Given the beautiful location and friendly staff, it is very sad the inside is so much the opposite of the outside.

Room Tip: Ask to see the inside before you reserve the room.

The location of this place is good; you can walk to a playground and to some restaurants and shops. There is also a hiking/biking trail that you can take (go right out of the property and then left through the field just past the trailer park to the trail) that will take you all the way to downtown Manitou (about 1 1/2 or 2 miles). It is off the main road, so it is quiet. They also let you bring your dogs, which is great. The rooms are old (i.e., wood paneling walls old), I'd say over 20 years or so. You have your own individual building; some have two beds and some have one. The rooms were very clean. Overall, it was fine. The owner was really nice. Its nothing special, but it is quiet and clean and wasn't too expensive. There was also a tv and a small refrigerator in the room.

Room Tip: very old but clean
