We stayed at this Clarion because it was chosen as the "official" hotel for a family wedding. Wrapping a vacation around the dates, we stayed for six nights. Things didn't start very well at check-in. The employee was dressed in baggy jeans with a wrinkled Clarion shirt hanging outside and a greeting of "Hey what's up?".
Having given my name and checked-in, we were told to "go round to the right and up the elevator." Having done so, we stepped out into an abandoned conference room area. Apparently, we were meant to keep walking past this elevator, past the pool, through another door which required key entry, down a corridor and around a corner to another elevator that could accommodate just two people and luggage as it lurched up to the third floor.
This expedition between the room, elevator and front-desk became quite tiresome over the course of six days, especially when on two separate occasions I discovered that my card-key didn't work when I got to the room. ("Our front desk didn't code them correctly, sir.")
The decor of this place reminds me of a 1970's Holiday Inn with an abundance of beiges, yellows and a lot of patched up walls where the maintenance crew is trying to stay on top of things.
Our room was a "Junior Suite" which meant that the wall between the bedroom and the bathroom had been changed to a half wall so that a microwave can sit on the counter. There was a fridge plugged in to a bedroom socket also. Nothing more than you'd get in a King room at any competitor. (If you book a Quality Suite on the other side of the building, you get essentially two rooms with the middle wall knocked out to provide space for kitchen, extra TV and pull-out couch. Other family members seemed OK with their rooms.)
The bed was comfortable enough, but don't expect any Memory Foam here. The maid service was very good on the whole although one day we returned back to our room at 5pm and it hadn't been serviced.
The TV guide listed about 25 channels as being available but only half of those actually worked. The front desk couldn't remedy this so we did not get ABC, CBS or PBS. We did get four ESPN channels, three HBO channels and a local NBC affiliate.
On a more positive note, the breakfast presentation was pretty good. The eggs were real, the sausage was tasty and the hash browns were nicely cooked through. The young lady who maintains the breakfast area really takes pride in the whole area.
The hotel is located close to downtown, a short distance to Old Colorado City, and easy access to the highways to see other attractions.
But, in the leisure hotel market, there are SO many better choices at the same price-point (eg. Hampton Inn, Country Suites etc) that I cannot recommend you choose this hotel.
