“Awesome ride!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

Hugh, Lori and Jenny were excellent with hospitality. We had an excellent time! We took the wildlife trail ride through steep terrain and saw elk and buffalo within 10 feet! Great memories! Thank you again!

“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

This was the best horseback ride we have ever been on. To Reach the stables you have to drive up Cheyenne mountain, over a mostly unpaved road that winds through some very spectacular scenery. The views are beautiful, but the drive is quite slow with all the switchbacks to navigate.

The staff at the stables are friendly and efficient at sizing up the riders and assigning them a horse appropriate to their skill level. We were going on a two hour ride with a group of about 8 people.

The trails that the ride covers are quite spectacular. You start off winding through the trees, slowly gaining in elevation. The ride takes you past hundred year old homesteading cabins and old abandoned silver mines. The terrain is quite challenging, ascending steep ridges, heading downhill past streams and waterfalls, and picking your way past boulders and through forest.

At the crest of some of the ridges the view is quite spectacular, with gorgeous rock formations framed by old growth timber that makes you feel like you are back in the old west. There is an old stagecoach road that cuts through the area, and it gives you a feel for what travel would have been like back at the turn of the century. We even saw an elk standing by the edge of a pond.

The guides were quite helpful, stopping at scenic vistas and helping with photographs. They were clearly very experienced riders, and knew the best options for the ride to take based on the weather conditions.

So, I would say that if you have any interest in horseback riding this trip is a must. The beautiful scenery puts it in a league of it's own.

FYI, the guides work only for tips, so please reward their professionalism appropriately.

“Great Views / Great Guide”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

We took our grandkids horseback riding in the mountains behind the zoo in Colorado Springs. The horseback riding experience is part of the Broadmoor Hotel, but open to everyone. The prices were cheaper than any other nearby stables. They had a wide selection of horses, with ones for our littlest grandchild up to me (it took a big horse for me). One of nicest parts of the experience was the cheerful staff that made everything comfortable and easy for us. The other great part was the beautiful scenery in the mountains that you ride through. To get to the stables, you have to ride on a dirt road for about 20 minutes. But, the road was mostly very smooth and very wide, so this was not a problem. I really recommend this ride for both the price and the beauty.

“Awesome Ride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

I took my wife here for something fun to do together. The Stables at the Broadmoor met and exceeded my expectations. Lori was our guide and she was very knowledgeable, helpful, and fun. The horses are well trained and obedient. This would be a great date idea or fun for the whole family. I will be back to take my kids on a ride soon.
