“Home away from home.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2012

Before deciding on Spurs n Lace we checked to see what other people thought of this bed and breakfast via the internet. We noticed that most of the guests gave it very good feedback. Me and my new wife really wanted to stay in a very special place for our honeymoon. Spurs n Lace was as clean, charming and comfortable of a home as we could of ever hoped for. What really hooked us though were Leo and Joyce. They made us feel like their home was our home away from home. The location was fantastic. The room was large with a balcony with great views of the mountains. I look forward to our next visit to the Springs. And I look forward to staying at Spurs n Lace. Leo and Joyce, thank you for making our honeymoon so special. R&V

I'm a lawyer who does business with oil companies, and I love America. I have no idea what any of that has to do with this wondeful place. You will find this particular B&B to be a pleasant slice of Americana, as well as a stirring example of two hard-working people following the American dream of risking all for an idea and then finding their niche in the free marketplace by providing guests with warnth and hospitality. Obviously, there are those who neither seek nor appreciate such qualities. For those few there will always be a Grand Slam breakfast place near where Ol' Tom "leaves a light on for ya". This place, though, is a true value, a great place, and completely undeserving of vindictive and curmudgeonlike comments.

We are a couple who like to have a lot of rest during their trips. This one wasnt different. Colorado Springs trip from Denver is a day trip for most people. But we took it easy and made it 2 days. We stayed at this nice quaint place.

Leo and Joyce who manage this place are the friendliest people. It helps that Leo is originally from a farm in Kansas. We stayed in Victoria rose, a room with a four poster bed and old-fashioned rest and leisure. Room was clean, the bed luxurious and the house totally out of a picture postcard.

The sleep on that bed.. it was the best sleep we had in a long time!

We were given a 3 course breakfast with fruit, oat porridge and cake. it was delicious. Everyone is given their own key to the property. We managed to lock ourselves out. But leo and joyce were good enough to come back from their own trip and help us out.

If you are a lawyer, have business with an oil company, or just love America in general, you won't like this place. I'm not either of the first two, but I do love America, and the owner bashes them all. This is unlike any B&B I've ever been too. All visitors are invited to sit around the breakfast table at a pre-set time (one time only) and it ends up being a debate about the world problems. I enjoy B&Bs when people are coming and going during a certain time period for breakfast; casual chit-chat about where people are from, etc. But I do not like being forced to sit around with people I may disagree with and have to have a discussion about major issues. And the food wasn't even worth it!

I enjoyed my stay at Spurs and Lace B&B. Although very close to the downtown shopping area, it is very quiet at night. The bed was comfortable and I slept well, surrounded by the rustic charm of the Colorado in the 1800s. The hosts offer a good deal of privacy to their guests. I like what Joyce said upon my arrival. She said, "Think of this as your home away from home." They make it feel kind-of like that.

Leo and Joyce are warm and friendly, and offer a nice and very filling breakfasts. There is good comraderie and conversation at the breakfast table because Leo gets the conversation started. He's a very interesting fellow. Joyce is a gem. It's nice to see a couple who smile often and enjoy what they do. I would stay there again.

We were only in town for one night and wished we could have stayed longer. Our room was comfortable and clean, we stayed in the Durango Room and thought the decor was cute and homey. Breakfast was delicious and the company was fun. We just happened to be there on Memorial Day weekend and there was a huge street festival setting up around the corner, sadly we couldn't stay because it was the perfect spot to enjoy the area and excitement. Everyone seemed like old friends, in fact some of the guests had been there many times and were very helpful with advice on what to see and do around Colorado Springs. We will definitely be staying again, and longer, as soon as we get a chance.

Room Tip: call if you need ground floor, stairs are steep
