“The best place to stay to round up a trip to the USA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2014

We came to the Garden of the Gods at the end of a wonderful 2 week visit to the USA. We didn't think some of our visits could be surpassed- but this was really outstanding. Alas we had only allowed for a one night visit - next time we shall allow for a longer break. Outstanding location and wonderful staff and service.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms probably preferable to British visitors

The Garden of the Gods hotel is excellent. The associates were very accommodating and friendly. The view is absolutely amazing and the location for our vacation was perfect. Went for a massage at the Spa, it was very clean, and I felt so relaxed when it was completed. The hotel is updated in most of the common areas, they need a little updating in the showers.

The Garden is beyond description and the Lodge at the Garden is par Excellance!!!!! - from facilities to staff to ambience. Of course, the view of the Garden takes your breath away - first the Gods; then Pikes Peak - all so close from the resort!!! And one nice extra - deer everywhere!!!

The Garden of the Gods Resort in Colorado Springs is.......an asset to the community!
My husband and I visited for a weekend and were very pleased with all of the amenities and the customer services!
Very satisfied with the reception, rooms, pool, food and beverage services, Spa and the overall
vibe of the property and location. No detail is overlooked...loved the attention.

Our visit to the Spa for massages was first class and one time~ A "10" all around.
Our visits to the cocktail and sports lounge , fine diningroom , casual dining and poolside services were excellent.
This Chef knows what he is doing, and I appreciate the use local ingredients.!! The menue is comprehensive. The desserts are to die-for, thanks to the pastry chef.
Our sunset dinner on the fine patio was world-class, as was the wine service. We enjoyed the firepits after dark also.
The views from the property are simply stunning. Pike's Peak and Garden of the Gods in the forefront. What an amazing vacation~
Thank You for making this special event so memorable. We will refer this grand setting and Resort to all of our friends and relatives.

Room Tip: South Patio was well situated to the entire property. Excellent views of Garden of the Gods park.

My wife and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary here recently.
As it was our first visit, we had high expectations of a relaxing time.

Here's a list of what went well:
1. Great view--The view of the "garden of the gods" is awe-inspiring, and breathtaking.
2. The staff upgraded our room to into the "romance package" at no additional charge. This was done without our knowing, and was a real surprise to discover upon our arrival.
3. The staff gave us free drink coupons. Again, very generous and unexpected.
4. The staff were continually friendly-- constantly smiling and courteous .
5. Ryan (at the front desk) adjusted our bill due to a major problem--a system wide A/C failure that occurred in the middle of the night (2am) and was never repaired. Even though my wife and I were only able to sleep about 3 hours during our final night's visit (due to the swelling heat in the hotel). There were no staff available to fix the issue...so it was an adjustment to our bill the following day helped put our minds better at ease. Still, there are some important improvements needed here:

Here is what could be improved:

1. I'll start with a small one (a pet peeve, really): Unable to use the HDMI outlet with the in room TV, and you can't easily watch TV in bed. We like to travel with and use of tech gadgets--the tv wall mount was too closely pressed against the TV, making it impossible to connect an HDMI cable.
The TV was situated at an angle, and there was no way to adjust the wall mount for a better viewing angle. (I can sort of see why they did this: the bed overlooks a beautiful view of the mountains, and the TV view is second fiddle).
I'd be able pass on this item as"must fix"--seeing how the center point of the trip was to enjoy the surroundings, not watch TV, but these seems like easy things to fix.

Desire: Change the wall mounts for easy access to the HDMI ports.

2. The "service fee" (aka gratuity "included" for each day) was not clearly explained up front--this "service fee" lead to a few meals/services where we paid the gratuity twice! Not easy on the pocket book!
I also noticed that the restaurant called this fee "extra gratuity" while the spa labeled this a "service fee". The last of inconsistency with terminology makes even more of a confusing issue.

Desire: I'd like to see all the services use the term "extra gratuity" so as to clear up any confusion on the bill at time of service.

3.While the staff immediately bragged about being a "24/7 front desk" I had to leave my room 3/5 times in order to reach anyone...calling the front desk from my room lead to a company voicemail. I'm surprised to see that this happened on a weekend day!

Desire: Keep the building fully staffed, and *always* have some at the front desk.

4. There are two restaurants on site...both with the same menu! The "lounge" is casual dress, where as the "dining area" requires formal dress up and takes reservations. The odd thing here is that the outside patios for each of these restaurants seamlessly blend with each other. We pretty much had to figure these two out on our own. I even heard other guests complain that they were confused about these two choices.

Desire: CLEARLY outline these two restaurants, and make them fully unique. Recycling the menu does not get the job done here, folks. Make the guests WANT to dress up for something special.

5. We had to make a stop at the front desk in order to find staff for the "lounge area"--no one was there when we stopped by for dinner the first night.

Desire: Post a sign: Inform visitors that the lounge is a "Seat yourself" arrangement. Keep at least one staff member there during dining hours so guests don't think the staff are unavailable.

6. Bathroom is outdated. The bathtub in our room needed a major revamp. Thankfully, the rest of the room looked what I would call "good, but bland (e.g. empty walls without any character)"

Desire: Get a designer. Renovate. Post renovation pictures online, and do this for every room type.

7. The spa and hotel staff aren't on the same page. The spa staff had zero idea what to do with our "spa credit". One spa staff member actually said "Oh, am I supposed to know that stuff?"
If I have to educate the staff, they have already failed at their job.

Desire: Communicate! Yes, you're supposed to "know that stuff". Guests shouldn't have to sort out details for the staff.

8. As I mentioned, the A/C failed onsite. This happened at 2AM. The front desk had almost no clue what to do. They promised at visit from a technician at 8am. I got up at that time, ready for a knock on the door. No one ever arrived. We had to sort out the details during our checkout. It was a mess!

Desire:When the A/C unit dies at 2am (and your guests are calling) having emergency tech on staff is just plain common sense. I can't imagine how much business was lost because of this mistake.

9. I woke up twice due to someone taking in the hallway, even though I asked for a
"quiet room".

Desire: Better soundproofing. Have a staff member sit on the bed while someone is talking in the hallway, with the door closed. If any sound is heard: the soundproofing is crummy.

10. Outdated bed need to go. Just sitting on the bed caused my wife to wake up in the middle of the night, due to the loud squeaks produced by the ancient bedding.

Desire: I'd expect a squeaky bed at a motel, not a resort. Time to invest in some upkeep.

Wonderful location and not all rooms can be wonderful. However paying full price for a parking lot view is wrong. Plus there was a continuous hum sound that we couldn't identify, like running water or a/c. The resort was full so we couldn't move rooms. That said, the resort is a truly unique place. We sat out on the grounds and soaked in the gorgeous views. We even used our balcony and looked over the parking lot and enjoyed the setting. The room was spacious. The staff greated us cordially. I would only stay there again if I had a room with an unblemished view. The resort knows what rooms would be less desirable and they should list them that way.

All of our rooms have unobstructed views of the Garden of the Gods Park and Pikes Peak. As the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center is below the Mesa from our resort, some rooms see their parking lot in the distance. We appreciate you staying with us and wish you the best in your future travels.

This place has a very nice views and comfortable rooms also with a pretty wide balcony. The main thing in the room was the view, we sat and looked around us for hours! The out side area had a nice table and chairs to relax on. Each gust has its own private balcony,
