“Great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

We stayed in one of the newer large rooms. When we arrived there on Sunday the 24th there was smoke everywhere from the Waldo fire. Fortunatly that night the smoke disapated. The hotel advised us of the voluntary evacuation and we decided to stay. It was like a ghost town durring the two days. The room was nice and clean and appeared newly renovated. The view was even more amazing with the night time glow of the fire Most of the local attractions were closed and the hotel credited back for half our stay. I can apprecitate the great customer service the hotel managment and staff provided. I will be going back.

Bummer for the people of Colorado springs with the fire spreading into the city.

Pjromer, we appreciate your choice to stay at The Lodge at Garden of the Gods Club. While it's unfortunate that the Waldo Canyon fire happened during your visit, we are relieved to hear that you still enjoyed your stay with us and plan to return. We look forward to welcoming you back!

We stayed here for one night so that we could visit Garden of the Gods and Seven Falls. The photos and recommendations made it seem like one of the best hotels in Colorado Springs. I would agree. The rooms are huge, COMFY beds and sheets, the view is like a postcard, staff is very kind and accommodating. But, caution, I booked last minute online through Expedia...our first room was in the South lodge separate from the main lodge. The rooms looked like they were in a time warp from 1955. The double beds looked liked slightly stretched twins, the bedding was old and the rooms even smelled musty. I was shocked I was paying $219/night. We were about to leave when the front desk person gave us a room in the main lodge. It was gorgeous and matched the photos online. I couldn't believe it was the same hotel.
So, yes, stay here, it is a great place and location - but be sure to get a room in the main building :)

Room Tip: CAUTION - Make sure you ask for a room in the main lodge. They are wonderful. The others have not be...

TGBailey, thanks for your comments. We're delighted that you enjoyed our views, comfortable bedding, and service. To provide a bit of clarification for other potential guests, our Lodge has three areas--the North Club, the South Club, and the South Patio. The North and South Club guest rooms are located in our main Lodge, and these rooms have had the most enhancements made to their decor. While the guest rooms in the South Patio, on the other hand, have not had as many enhancements made, many of our members and guests prefer these rooms for their walk-up access, privacy, and close proximity to the pool, spa, and tennis courts. The South Patio rooms are also priced lower than the North and South Club rooms. Once again, thank you for taking the time to write a review, and we're delighted that you enjoyed your stay overall.

Room is spacious but needs some serious updating. A microwave would be a great addition. Appropriate attire is required so make sure to do some research. Overall, pricey but the views are worth it.

Thanks for your review and kind words about our views. We are in the process of enhancing guest room decor, and we appreciate your suggestion to add a microwave. We do provide information about resort attire in our Lodge confirmation letter, and our front desk team is happy to answer any questions that guests may have about what to pack for their stays.

Stayed at the lodge for the first time. Was blown away by the view from our room. Our own somewhat private patio. Though the room was large and had a nice firplace it seemed to have outdated furniture, bed was great. At check-in we received weird looks by the staff as though we didn't belong there. Dining staff was great with their service and recommendations. Overall good stay but the rules and attire a bit of a let down. Rooms a bit pricey for what you receive. Food well priced for the portions and quality.

Thanks for your review and for your comments about our breathtaking views, food, and dining room service. I'm disappointed to learn that you didn't feel welcomed by our front desk team; our new front desk manager, Derek, will definitely address this feedback with the staff, as our goal is to delight each and every guest with our friendliness and excellent service. We are in the process of updating guest room decor, and we are glad that you found the new mattresses/bedding comfortable. As Garden of the Gods Club is a private club with an upscale atmosphere, we do ask that our Lodge guests observe "resort casual" attire. Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your comments, and we wish you the best, wherever your future travels may take you.

-One of the most beautiful views in the world in the dining area.

-There were some billing issues. I stayed for 3 nights and when i checked out i noticed i was only billed for 2 nights. Rather then try to hide the fact and deal with the issue later, i asked the front desk to check to make sure they were billing me correctly because i stayed for 3 nights.
An hour later, i was told i received one night free because i was part of a large group. I was surprised, delighted, and signed the invoice for the 2 nights and other misc charges.
Of course, i check my credit statements a few days later and they posted another charge for the 3rd night.
I understand i stayed for 3 nights, i brought that up when i was checking out. The hotel should have the courtesy to call/email that they were going to post another charge rather then surprise the guest.

-They didn't have a gift shop or area to buy any necessities. I forgot to bring toothbrush and paste so i went to the front desk and inquired where i could buy one. The front desk associate, who was quite rude, pointed me to a small area across the check-in area that sold snacks/drinks, female products, and deodorant. I went back to the associate and said the toothbrush and paste were out of stock. He told me he had no idea when they would be restocked and then stared at me blankly....ok then. I expect to be able to buy minor necessities at a 80/night motel...

-The first morning i sat down for breakfast and prior to the breakfast i showed them the hotel breakfast voucher. The hostess who sat me down said it was good for up 2 sunrise breakfasts, which sold for $13 each, or an equal amount of comparable items which i thought was 25-26 bucks
I order the crab avocado omelet, coffee, and some fruit. After the meal, the waiter brought my check, for 17 bucks, and i provided the breakfast voucher. She said the voucher was only good for one sunrise breakfast and i had to pay the difference, 4-5 bucks. The money wasn't a big issue but it didn't feel like the restaurant staff had a set standard on how to deal with these matters.

Overall, the views were amazing. Food was above average. The rooms were spacious and had everything i needed but they felt incredibly outdated even though they were supposedly newly renovated
Service was mediocre. The numerous billing issues regarding the room charges and breakfast were a letdown. The hotel feels very disorganized. Many of the staff had no idea what was going and the managers were always "away". They likely need a new general manager.

If you take away the incredible view, i would have probably rated GGC 2/5

Sau, thank you for taking the time to write a review of your experience at our resort. While we're delighted that you enjoyed our views, spacious accommodations, and cuisine, we apologize for the service issues that you experienced during your stay We take feedback like yours very seriously and will be addressing the training needs you identified with our staff. We recently welcomed a new general manager, front desk manager, dining room manager, and executive chef to our team, and we expect service and consistency to improve under their seasoned leadership. To provide clarification regarding our room decor, guest rooms have not been "renovated" but have been enhanced with new bedding, new mattresses, new flat-screen televisions, and new clock radios with iPhone docking. Once again, thank you for your feedback.

Not all of the front desk have been equally trained. If you call long distance to make a reservation, you wait a long time, give up and call again. There is no bellman help before 9 a.m.,although the young woman at the desk was helpful and got a maintenance man to help. Reading lights in rooms need to be improved. A maintenance man replaced our shower head. Rooms were very clean. For those of us who remember the days before the sale, turndowns, candy, and welcome back notes were the standard. Dress code suggestons are not applied. Perhaps the bar and lounge area needs to be for casual dining and the dining room for coats and more appropriate clothing. Having attended the Garden of the Gods Club since the 1950s all changes are evident. It will be a long time before services at GGC can compare with the Broadmoor. I don't mean to be nitpicking, but when you are enjoying dinner and see white chairs (two rows) on the grass for a morning wedding, it does ruin the atmosphere. Seeing Joe working and having Lazlo (spelling?) serve, did bring back feelings of old times. Our meals were excellent.

Thank you for your feedback and return visit to our Lodge. We recently welcomed a new front desk manager, Derek, to our team, and he is committed to training and coaching our front desk team to improve service and consistency. We have also invested significantly in a new telephone system, which is being installed this week and will enable us to handle incoming call volumes more efficiently and effectively. We appreciate your comments about guest services and dress code enforcement. I will share these with our new general manager as our team refocuses on creating outstanding experiences for all of our members and guests.
