“One of the best sites in Colorado Springs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

The Air Force Academy is one of Colorado's top destinations for a reason... it's beautiful. Maybe I'm a bit biased because I was stationed there for six years, but it never fails to create a sense of awe. The sprawling campus just has a few areas open for tourists, but it's worth the effort. Enter through the North Gate and turn left at the first intersection for a close-up experience with a B-52. Continue up Northgate road to the cadet area and opportunity to see the world famous chapel. Ideally, time your visit before noon so you can be there to watch the cadets march into lunch. If you're lucky you'll get to enjoy a flyover of helicopters or airplanes that are occasionally scheduled to thrill and motivate the cadets. The gift shop offers wonderful souvenirs, but is like gift shops everywhere.

“What an incredible campus!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2011

It is important to follow the signs for getting in to the Academy - North gate, not South Gate. And then follow the signs to the Visitors Center. From there you can walk 1/3 mile to the Chapel or stay in the Center and go through a Museum. The gift shop was also very nice. lots of items to choose from including a clearance area.

“Humbling”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2011

Standing in the presence of young men and women who have dedicated themselves to the values and mission of the United States Air Force Academy is humbling. I highly recommend visiting during the noon time formation (see their website or call to confirm dates and times). Be sure to visit the beautiful chapel.
