“Old Saloon type of Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

This is a great place to eat specializing in home style cooking and pan fried chicken. This is just great eats and excellent service. Very casual as you might expect and sitting on the court house square.

“Family friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Home-styled and comfy, unpretentious. LARGE portions, so ask for a take-home box! Everyone there seemed to be having fun, patrons and staff...

“Try the chicken”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

Cool 19th-Century atmosphere in a historic Castle Rock building. The service was quick. The food is nothing fancy but solidly good--like the stone building in which it's served.

“Great fried chicken”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

We ate here for the fried chicken that we read about in Tripadvisor. Get the fried chicken dinner special not the chicken fried chicken. A whole half chicken, mashed potatoes, mixed vegies, parker house rolls and salad for $16.50. For 7.90, a second person can get all of the above but the two people share the half chicken. So essentially you get 2 1/4 chicken dinners for $12 each. Believe me, 1/4 chicken is enough. Food was good and plentiful.
Total bill with one sort of expensive beer, $31

“Lunch was skimpy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012 via mobile

Brought my family from out of town. Lunch menu was pricey and when the food arrived, the portion sizes were laughable. The kids mac and cheese bowls were barely half full. The baby back ribs totalled four and were teeny tiny. The taste of the food was mediocre and when we asked the manager about the mac and cheese she told the server to tell us that the serving size was standard. We are not a family of big eaters and we all left unimpressed. The only thing this place has going for it is the history. Don't bother wasting your money. You're better off at Chili's.
