“A great time, will need to come back! ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

Visited just before Easter. Had a lovely time with the kids. The staff were great in the museum, moving our tour time to accommodate our lunch. The food was good and the kids happily demolished their lunches. The museum was interesting for all of us, the tour guide (Tony) was great with our kids (7 & 4), both in the mine and in the cottages. We weren't able to stay for gold panning or the library, so we'll need to come back! Looking forward to it already.

“Visit from Kiwiland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

In every respect the people at Wanlockhead were welcoming, accommodating and inclusive during my visit back there in 2006. I had the delight of staying in the village during a once in a life time trip to Scotland. My ancestors lived, worked and were buried there from the mid 1760s. I found the staff very helpful. They made my stay a real highlight. The Museum Trust has worked very hard to keep the past, and present it for our enjoyment. The staff are happy to answer questions and obviously have a good insight or understanding of their amenity. I strongly and enthusiastically recommend a visit to Wanlockhead where our shared heritage thrives thanks to the industry of the dedicated few. Kind regards Allen Little, New Zealand.

Good Morning Davie J,
I'm really sorry that you feel your visit was not good, this is very unusual that a visitor has such an experience as you can see a lot of people have great days at the museum. I see you live in the village and at least you have given a great complement to another village business. If you would like to contact the museum and speak to us about your visit we would be very happy to talk.

“Worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

A most enjoyable outing and the visit to the mine worth every minute. Made us appreciate life in the 21st C. The tour conducted by a lovely guide who was extremely knowledgeable. The museum itself well put together and very interesting. Only blot was the noise in the coffee shop made by the staff going through "saloon" doors - made for a stressful coffee break

The museum was interesting, the cottage tour good and the mine interesting. Toilets clean and tidy. Refreshments avail. In the cafe. All in all an interesting day out - me, my partner and our two kids enjoyed it. Very educational
