“Been going for 20 years, owner is a lunatic NEVER will go back! Shame full”

This Koa has a great location and nice secluded spots. However, new owners have taken over in past 10 or so years everytime I go I am treated like crap. Sara the owner treats "guests" like little children and runs the place like a plantation owner when it comes to the staff. She is a witch, and has ruined my trip for the last time ! Avoid this Koa hopefully she will go out of business and someone that appreciates customers and staff will take it over and I'll come back, or hell sell it to me if you hate it so much.

Great location, just couldn't get over the smell of the horses wafting through the rv sites. The staff were great, and
The View was amazing. We found the sites to be well spaced and the hookups were good.
Really enjoyed the staff.

We were camping by tent and our campsite was up toward the top. From where we were, we could enjoy view of surrounding peaks and sunset while having our dinner and drinks at the picnic table. It's one of the cleanest campsites I have ever stayed in. It's our first time camping with our children, the cleanliness and amenities made it a good introduction to camping for them. The only thing is -- they allow only one tent per site, so instead of our two tents, four of us ended up in a single tent. We are not fussy people, so it did not bother us. We extended our one-night stay to two and then three-night stay, because we loved it so much.

My family spent a week participating in the Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity for five days. The supervisor for HFH told us the KOA Buena Vista had cabins that we could stay in during our visit. The cabins were clean with electricity to charge our phones, cameras and computers overnight. They also had a great fan to keep the room cool as we slept. The bathrooms were very clean and the breakfast offered on select mornings were wonderful. The staff was friendly and very helpful. If we visit again we will definitely stay at the Buena Vista KOA.

I'm not sure what others are talking about with crabby staff. We didn't encounter one person who was rude! They were all excellent. This was our first camping trip. The bathrooms were very clean (one staff member was even cleaning up the mud and mentioned she loved seeing the mud in there b/c it meant the received the rain they needed.) Our site was the best. Very private and quiet. One man took us around to several sites on the golf cart to pick which one we liked. I loved how they had so many amenities. I'm not a caveman type camper. There are signs where to park and where not to, so I guess if you are able to read those signs, you shouldn't have a problem with the staff asking you to move. We will book at this KOA in the future for sure!

Room Tip: B56 is a great location!

We arrived after a 2+hour drive and pulled up to the campground office. I decided to turn around so we could park our travel trailer out of the way. Before I could get turned around, we had a guy on foot and another guy on a golf cart chasing us down as if we broke a law or something. He said we should have stopped in the middle of the road and went to check in asap.. (as if we should have studied and taken a test on their rules and regulations before we arrived).I told him we had reservations and we would head into the office as soon as we stretched and use the restroom. He said, try and hurry or the boss would get mad. Not even 30 seconds past the witch came out crying about me driving through the grounds w/o checking in first and said it was unsanitary for our dog to pee on their dirt. What is this some kind of boot camp or something? She asked personal questions, kids ages, what kind of dogs, cell numbers etc... Any question I had she had a smart [--] answer for, so i returned the favor.
In short, the owner/boss sucks!! Too many rules, no room to sit near the fire pits, and the sites are way too close to each other.
It was a very bad start to a 3 day weekend, Thanks Crabby!
I will never stay at this over priced boot camp again!!!!

We stayed at the KOA campground in 2011 for several days and had a great time. We had a good breakfast each morning at the bunk house before we started out for the day. They have a great location with many things to see and do in the area, the owners were very friendly and accommodating.

Room Tip: Get there early and stay late!
