“Nice rooms - pricey though”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

This motel has big, nice, comfortable rooms, plus all the usual amenities. It also has a small gift shop and coffee bar. It is a very nice place to stay, just not sure if it is worth the nightly rate. I think next time I'll try somewhere a little cheaper.

We stayed 3 nights as part of a fly drive holiday. The room was spacious, very comfortable and clean and there was no sleep disturbance. We had a nice view of the mountains from our road side room - no problem at all from passing traffic. The staff, particularly the lady on reception, were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was reasonably good.

Fantastic hotel! Every staff member we came in contact with was extremely friendly and helpful. Very nice room with super comfy beds. Great breakfast too. Everything I look for in a nice hotel. We would definitely stay here again.

We booked four rooms for a group of scouts going to Philmont. This hotel was chosen because it offered a free breakfast, the rates were reasonable and it was on our way. The arrangements were made months in advance, and confirmation via a phone call a week before the reservation. The room rates were confirmed, and the details of the trip were again explained. For example, 4 scouts aged 16 in one room, one room for one adult and son, another room for one adult and 2 sons and another room for three scouts. The ages and explanation were very clear and the room rate was confirmed.

Upon checkout, the room rate was not honored. Having a tight schedule, it was not possible to argue the issue at that time. We were charged more per room than quoted. Repeated phone calls and emails have resulted in management of this hotel not honoring the rate that was originally quoted.

We stayed at another Best Western the next night with no issues. The quotes were honored to the penny.

The Best Western Plus Vista Inn was clean, the breakfast was cold, and the donuts stale. We will never stay at this hotel again, and will drive out of our way to avoid it. I encourage you to look at another place to stay. This hotel will find a way to charge you more than what they quote.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

It really saddens me to be called a liar. And for that matter on a social media site. I am really sorry MR/Mrs "PrizePig" that you felt compelled to call me a "Liar". I am a business man, a husband and a father. A liar, I am not. As you can see by the 111 other reviewer on this site that we are a above average hotel with 16 years of business under our belts. One will not be in business that long being anything other than ethical and morally driven. I was under the impression that we came to a "win-win" with your issue, but finding out that you call me a "liar" on a social media site really sadden me. I am glad that you will choose to take your business elsewhere in that it will not be accepted here.

So far this year I've stayed 120 nights in hotels and this is the closest to a home away from home that I have found. This year is a repeat as I climb the 14ers in the summer and move in for at least a week to 10 days. The staff including the housekeeping is superb. Always very clean rooms every day. Absolutely an immense breakfast selection, with ceramic coffee mugs just like home. A huge jacuzzi to relax after the 14,000 foot climbs, and if that's not enough a huge indoor pool, always clean and lots of towels. The property is flawless, no patch work anywhere not in any of the bathrooms/showers, halls or anywhere. Management definitely is involved and cares about the details with this property.

We've stayed at the BW Plus Vista Inn probably 50 times over the past 5 years. The reason we keep returning is based on a variety of factors. To begin with, there is a wonderful staff, including, management, front desk, house keepers and other ancillary personnel. These individuals consistently go out of their way to provide a quality environment in which to stay. Secondly, all the amenities we seek are well maintained and accessible. Finally, is it located in an absolutely gorgeous mountain setting. We really do consider the Plus Vista Inn, our home away from home. It's simply the best BW we've ever stayed at.

Room Tip: All the rooms we've stayed in are wonderful.

We stayed here one night before a rafting trip down Brown's Canyon (with The Adventure Company--highly recommend them!!). This was a clean room with comfortable beds, just what we needed. My family said breakfast was good and well tended. Our boys had fun in the pool with some other kids. Hot tub was a little too hot, but still relaxing for a short time. If you travel through Salida, and you like great pizza, you have to stop at Moonlight Pizza. It's delicious & so is their homemade rootbeer & vanilla cream soda. We will stay here again the next time we're in the area.
