“VERY RUDE OLDER LADY”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

The two women working (not the owner) were the rudest people in the world. I was there with my two teenage daughters and one of them walked out because they were so embarrassed of the rudeness. I will NEVER go in there again. They are overpriced anyways for the food, but I was always willing to overlook that. But not now. VERY RUDE!!!!!

“Good, albeit heavy Kraut Burgers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

Despite its review on diners , drive-ins, and dives, the "Kraut burgers" (dough from scratch stuffed with a mixture of some variety containing both meat and sauerkraut) provided by Lauer Krauts are a good - but not particularly spectacular - food choice in brighton.

Those not familiar with Brighton may find its location on 6th Avenue easy to miss, the best way to reach this location is to turn onto sixth off of Bridge street, and then look quite attentively on your left side as you progress down the Avenue.

The Lauer-Kraut building is fairly small as it has only a couple tables inside, and the entrance is actually on the side of the building so it does not create a larger visual appearance from the street to look for.

Once inside, I tried several varieties of the Kraut Burger and was somewhat disappointed in the bland flavoring of those varieties which did not include elements like jalepeno. It seems in the standard burger that some of the traditional elements used to flavor this type of food - like pepper - were perhaps not as strong as they could be. The result is a somewhat greasy, cheesy heavy burger with a fair amount of wasted potential.

Diners who have sensitivity to health concerns and need to track calories, fat, or carb intake should also be forewarned that the restaurant focuses on what it does best - german sausages and kraut burgers - and they may have a challenge finding healthier fare on the menu.

For all that, if you have never had a kraut burger, Lauer Krauts is a wholesome family run establishment, where you can get a fair value and something a little out of the ordinary as a fast food option for your family!

“What a delightful time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2012

One reason we went here was the fact my husband's last name is Lauer, and we are both of German heritage. it was on the way to Estes Park where we were going for his birthday. We were treated like family and thoroughly enjoyed the food (terrific homemade fare) and the atmosphere. Seating is limited so plan accordingly. The menu is short, sweet and scrumptious. To celebrate the occasion we were treated to a delectable German chocolate brownie. How we wish it was closer to our home, but if we are anywhere near Brighton, we'll make a point of going to Lauer-Krauts.

“Home made, friendly beyond belief, a triple D superstar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2011

Learned of this on Food Network's Diners, Dives, Drive-Ins. Simple menu, everything from scratch. Their signature LauerKraut, since 1972, is a combo of seasoned ground beef mixed with hand-cut, home-made sauer kraut, and american or pepper jack cheese, tucked into a pocket of daily home-made dough and baked into a wonderful toasty sandwich. My husband had a winter special bowl of german sausage, mashed potatoes, and kraut. Three tables, immaculate, and take-out options. Best of all, the owner, Robin and her staff and family. Robin and Sharon came over to our table to thank us and check on us 4-5 times (genuinely and not intrusively). Robin introduced us to her Dad, who was at another table with local friends. It was incredibly heartwarming as well as delicious. We felt like family and will be back every time we are in the Denver area for our twice-yearly visit to the mountains. Go, support them, and smile that authenticity is still alive and well.
