I ate at Michaels for our Anniversary dinner, what a mistake.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere is not bad really, and would be kind of a romantic place to eat, until you look down at your silverware and notice that it is a paper napkin, wrapped with a paper napkin ring, which brings me back to my days eating in the high school cafeteria. They attempt to make it a romantic setting, but fall short of what one would expect of a top notch italian resturaunt. In addition to the napkins, the restrooms are quite dirty.
Food: Quite frankly, not good. My Chicken Parmigiana was extremely tough and overcooked. The sauce was not very good at all. The caesar salad was ok, but the lettuce did not taste particularly fresh. The bruschetta was good though.
Service: Was actually quite bad. Our server seemed good at first, then became very slow and took an unbeleiveably long time to refill drinks, and get the ticket to me. He seemed way to interested in talking to the people at the bar, and less interested in offering good service.
Price: The price was actually pretty good, with my wife and I spending $50 and both of us having a drink or two. We did have a 2 for 1 coupon, or it would have been $15 or so higher. I can't complain about the price with a coupon, but we probably won't return next year when we're out there. There are far better places to eat.
Our party was in town for the Memorial Day weekend and decided to try Michael's. Given our party size (8) we knew there would be a wait. The hostess staff gave us a 30 min wait time and we were seated in 20 -- GREAT!!!!. That is when the rest went down hill. The waiter just seemed not to be with it. Ranging from anything from not remembering to bring a ordered drink until reminded towards the end of the meal to not even coming back to check on us. Because of our party size gratuity was included to our bill - 18%. Considering our service this was more than deserving. After the trip I went on-line and check the damage for the weekend and found an addition tip was added. Not much but I feel that there is a definite intergity issue there. I called the manager and he is taking care of it - But Beware. The food was not good, save the baked ziti. If you feel the desire to get some ziti perpare for some bad service and maybe additional tip added to your bill.
My family and I spent five days in Breckenridge in February. The last night we decided to eat at Michael's Italian restaurant. When we first came into the place, a guy was sitting at a table yucking it up with a couple of people. We sat there for several minutes before the guy finally got up and we found out he was our waiter. He took our food and drink order and left. Once again, several minutes went by, no drinks! I went up to the bar and spoke with the "manager". We could see our drinks sitting in the window waiting to be delivered, but the manager didn't even have the sense to get them and bring them over. Finally the waiter came around and brought them. When our food came, my husband commented that the pasta tasted stale or overcooked. He mentioned it to the waiter who replied " just not hittin the spot for ya, aye?" My eleven year old son had the clam linguine and he said the clams tasted sour. My husband tried them and agreed. We told him not to finish the meal. Unfortunately, he had already had several. We had to ask several times for our check and when we called the managers attention to our displeasure, he was not apologetic. In fact, the waiter came up to us and was extremely confrontational. The following morning my son was very ill. We are certain it was from the clams. This restaurant must rely on the volume of unsuspecting patrons to survive.
