Knowing that Spring Break week was going to be a zoo in Breckenridge I made a reservation for our party of 5 at Blue River Bistro through Open Table weeks in advance. We arrived 5 minutes early for our 7:45 reservation and were told by one hostess that it would be a couple of minutes that they were setting our table up. While we were waiting, a party of 4 checked in with a different hostess and were soon led to a table. When our hostess came back it was obvious that there had been some miscommunication and our table had been given to the other party. Instead of admitting that there had been an error, the hostesses stayed away from us. When one of them had to come to the hostess stand to seat a party of 2 we were told that we should be glad that we had only been waiting 20 minutes that others with reservations that evening had waited up to 30. We were also told that our table should have been ready when we arrived but the diners were lingering and they were not going to ask them to leave. We ended up waiting over 30 minutes and were seated at a table that had been clear for almost 10 minutes. Our waitress offered us 2 complimentary appetizers since we had to wait so long. I was glad we took her up on it as the service was very slow.
By the time we got our entrees it was after 9:15 and we had filled up on appetizers, bread and salad so it was hard to really enjoy them. But our meals were good and the salads that come with the entrees were great. The best thing we had was the fresh mozzerella appetizer with small buttered toasts and artichoke hearts.
I doubt we would ever return to Blue River Bistro, not just because of the wait but the attitude of the staff.
