Columbine Café address is listed as 109 South Main Street in Breckenridge. Columbine Café is actually located not on Main Street, but in a small square almost in the center of this small town located at 9600 feet elevation.
Hwy 9 is Main Street in Breckenridge, and it is vital to have in mind the North and South Cardinal Directions. As one is driving or walking uphill, that is toward the south. As one is walking or driving downhill towards Frisco and I-70, that is toward the north.
It is probably best to park the car in one of several public lots (free in the summer,) or on Main Street, or a side street.
Columbine Café appears to attract a youthful set that enjoy huge appetites as well as huge doses of cholesterol. The “big breakfast,” and the “big lunch” are offered at low prices in order to attract a certain ilk.
In our view, one visit is enough to convince us that the Columbine Café is not our style.
The service is fine. Columbine Café is a very small place that draws a youthful crowd. The use of the concept “ambience” is at best a non sequitur. Columbine Café is a dreadful place, with a short bar and a few tables. Columbine Café is not an establishment for the “boomers.”
Stay home and prepare your breakfast in your condo. Columbine Café seems to be in competition with Denny’s. Columbine Café has a delightful name and a loyal local and tourist following. The tariff is appropriate for the fare.
