We arrived early and couldn't have been happier that our town home was available. Our accommodations were perfect and every staff member we encountered was kind considerate and seemed genuinely interested in making our stay as good as it could be. We found that to be true of everyone within the Breckenridge resort community. Our only complaint is that we had to leave.

Why do I say that this was THE BEST place to stay in Breckenridge? Here are some reasons:

1. Location! It's right near the Gondola which is great in both winter and summer. Also, a very EASY walk into downtown Breck.
2. They provide a complimentary shuttle to anywhere in Breckenridge.
3. The townhomes are nicely furnished (be sure to ask for an updated one), spacious & clean.
4. Housekeeping Staff is friendly and competent.
5. The entire Staff was helpful, eager, and full of suggestions.
6. They have reciprocity with One Skill Hill Place on top of the mountain. In the summer this is where the Fun Park is for kids and even adults. And, they have a two-lane bowling facility in the hotel. It's free for guests, and is a blast! And, there is a private movie theatre if you have a group and want to bring a DVD or borrow one from the hotel. We also used the indoor pool and hot tub on a rainy day. It was great to have access to this beautiful hotel and facilities. We took the Gondola up to it on one day, and grabbed the shuttle on another day.
7. Location! Oh, did I mention that? It's nicely situated so that you're not right in the center of town, but can easily walk to town or grab the shuttle into town. It's very close to a grocery store, minor emergency center, and other amenities. We thought that the location was great.
8. They have their own small work-out facility and various hot tubs plus a nice outdoor pool.
9. The rates are reasonable for what you get. Yes, you can find lower cost facilities; but, based on my research, this provides a great bang-for-the-buck. Be sure to book with the property, or make sure that you are entitled to the amenities when you book with a VRBO listing.
10. The two lodges on the property look very nice. I believe that many of the lodge units have NOT been updated to include granite, etc. If this is important to you, be sure to ask about this when you book. The lodges have underground, heated parking. We had our own private garage in the townhome. I think that most of the townhomes are newer than the condos in the lodges. Be sure to ask questions about the interiors, etc, when you book in the lodge (depending on what you are looking for).
11. If having a view is important to you, ask them about finding a place with a view. Many of the townhomes do not have a view, and only some of the rooms in the lodge do. While we thought that this was important to us, we were outdoors so much of the time, that it didn't really matter, in the long run.

I only have positive things to say about this property. There was nothing that we didn't like. Or, better stated, we loved everything about Mountain Thunder Lodge/Townhomes, and would definitely consider returning in the future!

Room Tip: Ask for refurbished townhome or lodge condo, if having granite and newer appliances is important to...

MTL proved a great choice for a place to stay while at Breck for our family of four during our summertime visit. We had 2 bedroom suite. Very comfortable. Rooms were clean. Very usable kitchen. I dont know that you would more that 4 in the room. Service at the desk was great. You can easily walk downtown Breck with we did several times. Pool and tubs were busy with youger children so our teenagers wanted no part of them. Which was OK. Tip, ask for mountain side room. We had town side and heard traffic noise. No A/C as you do not need it, even in July. But we needed to open windows and thus heard the traffic. Price was right, parking in garage worked. We visit Breck again we are staying at MTL!

Room Tip: Mountain side! Must have!

We spent a week in a VRBO unit this July. On the upside, the location is perfect. Short walk to the gondola, easy stroll into town and convenient to the free shuttle bus. Our until was pretty nice; decent furniture, well-appointed kitchen and decent bed. The decor is a bit dated, but in good condition. The pool and hot tub were nice and a big draw for our two young grandchildren who live in town. The unit, on the second floor on the front of building 5 was pretty noisy, as it overlooked the parking in front. Laundry facilities are shared and the laundry room was just outside our unit--not ideal, but OK. We did not have cleaning services, but did notice that the hallways, elevator, lobby, pool area could have used more attention. During all the hours we spent at the pool, we never say anyone cleaning it or the hot tubs and often the used towel bin was completely overflowing. On a couple of occasions, no clean towels. Nice TVs in our unit and ceiling fans, which were great as the evenings were warm. I noted in other reviews that renters complained of shabby interiors and terrible beds. That was not our experience, but I would say that as each unit is individually owned and rented either by the property or through the owner (like VRBO), it would be wise to ask a lot of questions about the interior of the unit that is offered. We would certainly stay at Mountain Thunder again as the positives did outweigh the few disappointments.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask a lot of questions about the age and condition of the individual unit offered

We recently stayed at Mount Thunder Lodge for a family wedding. The Lodge was a short walk from town and from the main gondola to the action park. The two bedroom/ two bath condo we rented in the main lodge was spacious with a kitchen and living room. The flat screen TVs and wifi were a welcome addition along with complementary coffee each morning. Food and drink delivery is available although it is only a short walk to stores and restaurants. We recommend Mount Thunder Lodge for your next visit.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the main lodge although friends in other buildings had equally good experiences

Our July visit to Breckenridge was fabulous. The Mountain Thunder Lodge is a great location for experiencing everything Breckenridge has to offer in the summertime. We were just a short walk to the Gondola station & the downtown area. When we didn't feel like walking the free shuttle was happy to take us anywhere in town. The staff at Mountain Thunder Lodge was outstanding. They were extremely friendly and went out of their way to help us when our rental car had problems. The condo was also the perfect location for watching the 4th of July Fireworks!!!

Stayed there with extended family for a reunion of sorts for 3 nights this past weekend. There were 16 of us -- 2 in their 80s, 8 in their 50s (or so) and 6 in their 20s (was supposed to be 8 - 2 couldn't make it at the last minute). We had 5 1-bedroom units and 2- 2 bedroom units in the main building. The group is generally well traveled, and 2 sets currently live in Colorado and are very familiar with the various Co. resorts both summer and winter. Everyone was extremely happy with the accommodations and setting, and though they were great (I got a lot of "atta girls" off this one); the Denver group said they would be back. Lodge has a nice deck, with one of the hot tubs right off of it with grills (we didn't use them, but they were there) -- the deer came right up to the deck. Its a very short walk to the down town and shorter to the free downtown bus, and the Lodge has its own van/bus as well that can take you if you are not up to walking. Also close to the rec trail along the river. Beds were very comfortable (although several did complain about too soft pillows), Units were well appointed and clean. My only minor complaints are that the lighting in my particular unit in the bathroom/dressing area was a tad dim, and for a family group like ours, it would have been nice if they had an one premises cash bar happy hour like I have experience seen some places without full restaurant or bar, to relax and gather before heading back out for dinner.

Room Tip: In summer, when you have the windows open, the rooms over looking the parking lot (or hot tub) will...
