My wife and I love to take brief weekend getaways and prefer b&b's, when possible. We chose to stay at the Fireside Inn for an anniversary weekend in Breckenridge. The location and affordability are second to none. Niki and Andy are pleasant hosts, and a good resource when choosing local fare. There is no curbside or driveway parking, but they have a convenient arrangement with a church to use their lot for free, directly across a very small street from the inn. There is a bus/shuttle service with a stop directly in front of the inn, as well. Breakfast is not overly elaborate, and you must sign up for it the night before. For a simple breakfast, it is done well. Fresh coffee by french press is renewed as needed. We stayed in the Wildflower room, which we found clean and quite cozy. A small tv with basic cable is provided, and DVD's available. We did have a few reservations, unfortunately. All are related to the fact that this inn is a hostel, as well. The hostel bunks are downstairs, as are a restroom and separate shower. Common areas are free for all to use. The hosts clearly post courtesy rules, these didn't get in the way of other guests' good times. Loud conversations, repetitive downstairs bathroom door opening, hard shutting persisted until roughly 1230 am. We were both awakened again around 230 for the same reason. I would like to think that this was just a bad night, rather than the norm. Overall, the feel of the inn was more hostel than b&b. It seemed to us that the hostel boarders dominated the inn, in both volume and number from the late afternoon/early evening on. Just one example was of a young snowboarder sleeping laid out across a couch in the common area, who was in the same position 3 hours later when we came into that room again. Bottom line for this review, if you are looking for a quiet, quaint, mature getaway, you might consider your options...... if you are travelling with other couples or a larger group, or just don't mind a little noise/younger crowd, you won't find better than here....also, if you are solo or have a limited budget, the hostel option would be outstanding.
