“A Very Good Choice for Breck Lodging”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2011

This is a great place to stay for skiing at Breckenridge. Keep in mind you are paying for convenience and proximity to the slopes.

Parking - Parking is very difficult anywhere in Breckenridge and extremely limited everywhere near town. It is much harder to park now than it was a few years ago even. GTL provides heated underground parking for a car during your stay.

Ski in/Ski Out - Early season ski in is a challenge but I don't think that should be surprising to anyone. This year has been short on snow so far. Worst case scenario you can ski down wherever you'd like and call the shuttle. Ski out is relatively easily and there is a nice long lift that takes you up to a short ski down to some of the main lifts and the ticket office. We did ski in and out and had to trek across a couple rocky patches.

Rooms vary quite a bit based on the size you choose to get but even studios even have a kitchenette area and all of the larger rooms have full kitchens. I believe all rooms have a fold out sofa.

The rooms are consistently clean and relatively spacious. The beds are comfortable and the fold outs are about as comfortable as a fold out can be. There are lockers for ski storage near the ski in/ski out areas.

The hot tubs and pools are very nice and I've never had trouble with noise or crowds. We typically use the non main area that is not near the bar and maybe that is why we've never had trouble. But we stay there about 3-4 times a season and have never noticed issues.

The restaurant/bar is average and prices are in line with anything else you would find in Breckenridge. There are better dining options if you want to go into town, but after a day of skiing it can be the perfect retreat. Take your time and relax, service could take a while, but the last time I was there (12/1/11) the service was (surprisingly) top notch.

Room Tip: Studios that are on the corners seemed to have a little extra room.

Thank you for taking the time to review Grand Timber Lodge. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Grand Timber Lodge is situated in a prime ski in/ski out location and within walking distance to all the town of Breckenridge has to offer. Breckenridge is having a slow start to the ski season which is making ski in/ski out difficult right now. We are all hoping for more snow soon! Utilizing the free shuttle for easy access to the ski lifts is a wonderful idea!

We strive to make all guests feel as at home as possible by providing spacious, fully-stocked units, and unmatched amenities. We are glad you enjoyed your meal at the Lodgepole Bar and Grill and that you experience great service!

Thanks again for reviewing Grand Timber Lodge!

My husband and I stayed her for Thanksgiving week and it was a complete disaster. The room itself wasn't terrible but there were many things wrong with it concluding a stove that didn't work and very uncomfortable pillows. They charge for wi-fi so I tried to use their computers in the lobby but their internet went down every 10 minutes. The pool area was filled with unsupervised children every night running and screaming until 10 at night. The restaurant food was on par with what you would find at most dive bars and a few chicken wings were an outrageous $12. The "ski-in/ski-out" was a bit of a walk which wasn't bad but the lift ride was over 10 minutes long. The trail to get back is so neglected that my friend, who is an expert skier, could barely make it down.
The worst part however was when a domestic violence incident broke out in a room a few doors down from us and the police had to be called. The hotel staff did nothing to assist or assure the other guest. We were treated to inquires by the officers and scenes of a distraught woman and children standing around by themselves in the parking garage.
We are sad that we will never be going back because the resort itself is quite nice and the location amazing but so many little problems kept building up and the staff was very unhelpful toward any of it.

Thank you for reviewing Grand Timber Lodge. Our company passion statement is “Our Family Commitment: Always Great Vacations” and we would like to express our sincere apologies that your experience while staying with us was not the experience that we strive to offer each and every guest. That being said, we truly appreciate having the opportunity to address the concerns you have shared.
In regards to the Thanksgiving holiday ski conditions, please note that the town of Breckenridge is currently experiencing below average snowfall for the early part of the ski season. While locals and visitors alike are all hoping for more snow, we recommend that our guests take advantage of the Grand Timber Lodge courtesy shuttle service as a free and convenient solution to accessing the Breckenridge Ski Resort until snow conditions improve.
In addition, we apologize that you experienced maintenance issues during your stay. We encourage any guest who is experiencing any type of issue while staying at Grand Timber Lodge to notify our staff so that we can address the matter as soon as possible. It is our goal to provide an outstanding vacation experience, and we welcome the opportunity to address any issues so that we can ensure that your stay exceeds your expectations.
In regards to the pillows, Grand Timber Lodge is pleased to offer our guests several different pillow options for maximum comfort. These pillow selections can be arranged by contacting our front desk.
The Lodgepole Bar and Grill is meant to provide a casual, family-friendly, convenient option for dining on property. Please rest assured that your comments have been passed on to the management at the Lodgepole Bar and Grill so that they may use your feedback to improve their services.
In regards to the unfortunate domestic dispute that occurred between some other guests, we sincerely apologize that you were affected by this disturbance. While rare, these situations do occasionally arise and can require the assistance of the proper authorities to resolve the matter, especially because the safety of every guest is our top priority. Please rest assured that we did send a total of three employees to assist with this situation – one employee assisted the father and another assisted the mother while the third employee escorted the authorities when they arrived. In situations such as this one, once the property authorities arrive our staff will politely excuse themselves and return to their normal job responsibilities. We did not publicly address the situation because as a resort we are very committed to upholding our guest’s privacy.
Please know that all of our employees are trained in our hospitality standards which include making every guest contact positive. We apologize that you did not feel we accomplished this goal, but we will continue to work towards making every guest contact positive.
Thank you again for taking the time to review Grand Timber Lodge.

Enjoyed our first stay at Grand Timber Lodge. The living area and bedroom were much larger than Grand Lodge at Peak 7. Trade off appears to be ski access. There was not enough snow for us to "ski in/out" at Grand Timber but shuttle was very accomodating. Wonderfully appointed unit, hot tubs galore, fitness areas, sauna, park underground and never drive again! Very helpful staff.

Only downfall to these units (both Grand Timber Lodge & Grand Lodge at Peak 7) is their poor bathroom design. One bed unit has huge master bath (two vanities/jetted tub) but NO toilet (although plenty of room). The main bath (with shower built for 2) has the ONLY toilet in the unit. Not the end of the world, can wander to pool/fitness bathrooms in a pinch, but at this price, who wants to?

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Grand Timber Lodge. Thank you for taking the time to review the property.
We take pride in maintaining our resorts with the greatest care. We strive to make all guests feel as at home as possible by providing spacious, fully-stocked units, unmatched amenities, a restaurant on property as well as a free shuttle to downtown. In addition to being a fantastic property, the resort is located in a prime area. Breckenridge is a great town to vacation in - the shopping, dining, and nightlife, all located right on Main Street, provides plenty of fun and entertainment. Grand Timber Lodge is within walking distance, or you can take the free shuttle to Main Street as well, so it is a great place to stay and enjoy all the town has to offer.
We apologize that you feel the bathroom layouts could have been better designed. Our one bedroom units at Grand Timber Lodge and Grand Lodge on Peak 7 only have one full bathroom. We have included a door to separate the space into two areas to maximize the privacy and number of people who can utilize the bathroom at once. If you need additional bathroom space we would encourage you to look into a two bedroom or larger unit for your next stay as those units have more than one bathroom.
Again, thank you for reviewing Grand Timber Lodge!

Our 7 night stayed was very enjoyable. Our Studio unit was small but more than adequate for 2 adults. Yes there is limited room, and the kitchenette is basic, but you just make the best of it.

The bedding is very comfortable, and sleep quality is good. Bathroom is all good, and the shower is excellent.

Our stay did overlap the thanksgiving holiday, so we did experience a busy peroid. Unfortunatley the thin walls did make things a little noisey at times. Once the holiday was over the noise level dropped.

All the staff were very polite and helpful, except for 1 young lady in the main room where the pool table is located. It seems texting on her phone was far more important than dealing with my question. (sorry but customer service is far more important than texting!)

This is a very nice place to stay with great views.

If we every return to Breckenridge, it would be hard to overlook the Grand Timber Lodge as our first preference.

Thank you for taking the time to review Grand Timber Lodge! We are glad you enjoyed your stay. The studio is our smallest unit. We try to provide all of our guests with all the comforts of home in every room.
We do apologize if you experienced noise during your stay due to the holiday. We do have quiet hours in place from 10pm to 8am to ensure an enjoyable stay for all of guests. If you are having noise issues during this time we would encourage you to contact the Front Desk so that they can handle the situation.

My two sisters and I enjoyed an escape to Grand Timber Lodge in Breckeneridge, Colorado in mid October. We exchanged a time share and were able to get a large unit that slept 6-8 with two bedrooms and a full kitchen. One of the bedrooms had a king size bed, a double sink, and a nice double size jacuzzi. The other lock-off had a queen size bed, a queen pull out couch, a small kitchen, and a seperate bath. There was free parking for both our cars. The pools, steam room, hot tubs, and changing areas/restrooms were very nice. The excercise room was adequate. The full kitchen had everthing we needed. We appreciated the clean rooms and mid week towel exchange. It's always a bonus to have a washer and dryer to take home clean laundry. We really enjoyed the town of Breckenridge and spent one day biking nine miles to the lake and another walking the same trail. Bike rentals very reasonable $20/4hours including helmet and lock. There is a convenient shuttle service to take a trip to the grocery store or visit the interesting Visitor's Center telling the story of the town in the gold rush days. It snowed one day, but was beautiful the entire week. The pine woodwork was in need of refinishing, but overall the unit was nice. Tip: Stop at Whole Foods in Denver to stock up on food for the week if you fly in. It is a real treat and was a great start to a memorable vacation. We would go back again.

We stayed here for a week in September. We were in a 1 bedroom efficiency. There were two rooms, one with king bed and it's own bathroom. Other room had a queen bed and sofa bed with a partial kitchen. This was like staying in a hotel. It was fine for my husband and me, but when our family joined us, 2grandkids and our son and his wife it was overcrowded. They have a shuttle which is nice. Pool and exercise room nice. Would stay here again if we could get into a 1 or 2 bedroom with full kitchen.

Thank you for taking the time to review Grand Timber Lodge. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Our kitchenette unit is the smallest unit that can accommodate 6 people. For more space I would recommend reserving our 2 bedroom unit. Our pool and exercise room are just two of our many excellent amenities. We are glad you enjoyed taking advantage of these facilities during your stay. The free shuttle is an excellent amenity that Grand Timber Lodge offers that allows guests to take advantage of all that Breckenridge has to offer.
Thanks again for reviewing Grand Timber Lodge! We look forward to seeing you again.
