“Just what a Breck weekend should be!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2010

We got our condo through the VROB website. We dealt directly through the owner.
We got a small 1 BR condo, it was just right for the two of us. The lodge is well built,
there was a virtual plethora of people next door in a 3 BR condo, and we never
heard them at all.
The one problem, however, is that we would have liked to have a deck/balcony.
The small units do not come with one, but the larger units do.
Very short walk into town, the location is great.

We stayed in unit 207 during spring break 2010 with two younger kids. The unit itself was great, very nice kitchen - all necessary cooking items. Unit has its own washer and dryer which is a huge plus. Every bedroom had its own TV and bath. All in all, great condo. Here are my only two negatives: 1. The hot tub(s) are not as nice as other condos and there is no pool. They have one small indoor tub and one small outdoor tub, there is a sauna and steam room though. 2. While the lift is right out the door, less than 50 steps away, to get home you either have to ski a cat track which means lots of poling or you have to ski down a run across the street (4 o'clock run) and then carry your skis across the street. While neither of these "negatives" is a deal breaker, they are issues when you travel with younger children who like the pool and cant carry their own skis too well.

We stayed in one of the even number studios in the main building (I believe some sites also categorize these as 1 BR since the sleeping area and living area are separate). The unit was very nice and the building's location adjacent to the Snowflake lift was perfect. My only gripe was the view from the condo - a concrete walkway and the adjacent building thirty feet away. Not what I expected for a $200/nt. unit.
The even numbered studios on the first floor (104-110) would have this view. I assume it would be the same on higher floors, although higher units had balconies that would allow you to walk out and look sideways to the mountains.
Heard a bit or noise from those overhead and in the hallway (bed very close to the entry) but not as much as other units. A higher numbered unit would put you farther from the elevator and exit to the ski lift.
Overall it was a great place to stay, just wish I'd known about the view beforehand.

My big complaint with this lodge is the parking situation. They heavily rely on it in their advertising and description...but fail to mention that there is only ONE parking place per unit in the very nice, heated, underground garage.
So we rented a 3 bedroom condo with only one parking place...two cars. One of our cars had to be parked at a city lot at the ice rink, for $5.00 per night. The city parking is quite long way from the lodge and not exactly convenient. Had we know there was only one parking space we could have made an educated decision about staying here. Although we don't drive alot when we are in Breckenridge, having the car so far away does create some logistical problems. I did expect more especially since they use the garage as one of the amenitites in their advertising.
I feel a little bit ripped off.

That being said the condo is nice and spacious. We have 6 people here with plenty of room. Two rooms with queen beds, one room with 2 bunk beds. Also the sofa folds out. Three full bathrooms. Nice kitchen. TVs in every room. Free wireless internet.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2008

We stayed in Breckenridge for 5 nights in Aug, 2008 with some friends. Between the 2 families we have 7 kids under the age of 12. We wanted a condo where we could all stay and came upon this one. It was exactly what we were looking for!

I should first say that with a lot of these condo places, since each is individually owned they will be decorated and stocked differently. I don't know if the management companies enforce some minimum standards, so make sure you do your due diligence! We found this place on VRBO - try to find some place with a lot of pictures and hopefully reviews from other travelers. From what we saw by looking into a couple of the other condos while walking down the hallway they did seem to have similar quality of furnishings.

Anyways, we stayed on the 2nd floor of the Tyra Riverbend Lodge. It was a 3 bedroom, 3 bath condo and was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. There were 2 "master" suites with a queen or king bed, private bath (one with a jetted tub) and deck overlooking the Saw Mill trail and Snowflake chairlift. The 3rd bedroom had 2 sets of bunk beds plus a trundle so we were able to sleep 6 of the kids in the room, and with a blow-up mattress we brought we could sleep all 7 kids. The kitchen was well-stocked! You know how some condos state they sleep 12 but will then only have 6 plates and 4 sets of silverware? Not here! There were plenty of glasses, wine glasses, bowls, plates, silverware, everything. Also, a coffee maker, espresso maker, grinder, a good knife set, etc. All the furniture was great quality and comfortable, each bedroom had a TV, and the TV in the living room had built-in DVD and VCR players. Our unit also had wi-fi internet access, plus a washer and dryer.

We were able to walk to downtown Breckenridge - it's about a 15 minute walk each way, but note that since the resort is slope-side coming back up to the resort is a bit tougher. But we walked it almost every day (with our kids, aged 7-11).

The Riverbend lodge has both an indoor and outdoor hot tub, sauna and steam room. My wife thought the steam room had a funny smell (maybe mold?) so we didn't use it but the kids did use the hot tubs and sauna. There is also an exercise room (didn't check it out) plus heated underground parking.

We would definitely stay here again! Considering we split the cost of the condo between the 2 families, we ended up spending about $100/night - our cheapest (and nicest) lodging of our trip!

  • Liked — clean and large, convenient location, fully stocked kitchen, wi-fi
  • Disliked — nothing!
