This hotel is nestled in the very low foothills right near the mountains (as opposed to strip mall city that is most of Boulder). It's 3 blocks from Pearl Street Mall and the other hotels that charge $300 a night, and it's right across the street from Alfalfa's, the local Whole Foods equivalent. Very convenient to Canyon St (which everything you need and McGuckins Hardware which is oh so much more) and 2 of the major bus lines. I stayed in room 209 (someone before me recommended upper rooms because floors creak), and it was quiet, very clean, with a comfy bed and desk and good lighting, but the best thing of all about the room was the screaming fast free wireless. Personnel are wonderful and very helpful with directions, parking is free, free breakfast had instant oatmeal and Alfalfa's across the street (not free). They seem to have fixed the no-smoking issue because my no-smoking room was totally free of smoke. They are renovating in January and the pics look great.
This is not the type of place you want to go on for a romantic retreat, but for my business purposes it was perfect.
Downsides: shower was small and dark and no tun; window heating unit was a bit noisy until I got used to it on the second night. Maybe renovated rooms will fix this.
