“Good Hotel for a Good Price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2012

This hotel is dated but still has what is needed for a good night's stay. The beds were comforbale and the room was clean. The bathroom area was tight but the room itself was spacious enough. We did bid on Priceline and paid a low price. We would have been very disappointed if we had paid the asking price of this hotel instead of bidding. The pool, hot tub and fitness room are great! The staff was friendly and very accomodating. We made several requests and received everything we asked for--a first floor room, two beds, a microwave and a refrigerator.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view or a room on the quiet west side,

The only reason I give this hotel 2 instead of 1 is that the staff is helpful, friendly and nice, the location is good (albeit on a main drag, near strip malls and a Safeway) AND I paid a very low price on priceline. But I find nothing else to recommend here. First, the rooms are dated. The furniture is banged up, the bedding stained, the TV ancient--but what is worse is the asbestos spackle/popcorn ceiling in the rooms we were, where the white material from the roof sprinkles down - you can find it in various parts of the room. This material isn't even up to code nowadays. I can't believe the ceilings have this stuff, parts of which are missing, or falling down. The room we were in was FILTHY. If you had the misfortune of trying to reach under the bed, or use the plugs by the bedside, you were treated to a year's worth of dust, filth, hair, all accumulated where the vacuum easily doesn't reach (although a little effort could clean all this). I have rarely seen this much filth in corners, edges, under the bed - and even the visible areas of the carpet were poorly vacuumed anyway - albeit not as overtly filthy. The bathroom had small hairs, brown speck stains - clearly not cleaned properly. The cold and hot water settings in the tub were reversed, and the faucet leaking. The hallways in the wing we were seemed like an old awful dormitory hallway - bad lighting, prison-like - low ceilings - just depressing. The carpet, old, run down, stained. We had two roaches in our room during our short stay. And the heating system/fan was the absolute worst. There was no link between settings and heat level, which was unbearable in both the rooms and hallways. The heater in the room turned on like a propeller plane, making rattling noises all night. The bleach smell in all public areas was overwhelming, to the point of burning the nose. Just not a pleasant place to stay. Another "campus" choice that stays in business with the masses visiting a college - that would otherwise be out of business in any city.

Have stayed here multiple times. Love the location and views. Buildings/grounds are dated but have alot of charm especially the masonary work. Needs a complete facelift/gutting/all new furnishings to bring up to todays business standards. Buffet breakfast is lacking in selection/quality for $15 plus tip.

Staff is nice and friendly.

Stayed here last fall for a weekend wedding. Accommodations were okay, but nothing too spectacular. Bed was comfortable. Bar closed a bit early. Definitely ask for a mountain view room.

Room Tip: Mountain view!

I booked this thru priceline as a last minute getaway. They stuck us in what had to be the worst room in the place! Right next to the noisy elevators, directly above the bar/club where the music thumped away past 12:30am and when you open the door to your patio, there's a lovely 6' tall picket fence hiding the view of all the mechanical equipment. Thank goodness we took a cab for dinner and enjoyed an extra glass of wine because had I not been so full of food and drink, I don't think I would have gone to sleep at all in this place! The room & bath was clean, but definitely an old hotel by the size of the bathroom. You could barely turn around in it if you were a larger person. Hot tub was not working when we were there and looked like it hadn't been cleaned at all that day. Pool looked better.

Room Tip: any room besides #238 has to be better!

Stayed here one night on a priceline reservation and for the $65 i paid it was worth it. Room was huge, TV old, bathroom old but the location was great for a visit to the University. Everything is within 5 minutes of this hotel. If you can get this hotel for under $75, go for it.

Stayed here for a conference at UC. The location is phenomenal - Target, McDonald's and a whole host of other places are along the road. The University is very close as well. Parking was free. The rooms were alright. It's a very dated hotel in need of major renovations. The lobby smells like bleach. In the morning, the lobby smells like bleach and breakfast meats. Not a good smell at all. All and all, if you are not a diva, this place will do.

Thank you for sharing your recent experience! We take our guests feedback seriously and I have alerted the housekeeping and F&B departments regarding the lobby "smells". We are also working on many things within the hotel to brighten the rooms/public space and are hopeful you will consider us again when staying in Boulder so you can appreciate the changes being made. Thank you again for staying with us - we hope to see you again soon!
