“Good value for lodging in Boulder”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

The Golden Buff is a clean, comfortable place to stay in Boulder. The value is very good, and it is located close to a mall, restaurants, the college, and entertainment options. The rooms, although a bit dated, but are quiet and more then adequate. The beds are comfortable and it is a bit suprising how large the rooms really are! I have stayed in chain hotels in Boulder and paid $200 a night for a similar experience. Overall, this is a good place to stay and you get a good nights sleep without breaking the bank.

Room Tip: Bottom floor rooms allow you to park right outside your door.

We've stayed in this hotel as stop over during our last US trip. The hotel is located just outside Boulder's centre, but close to restaurants and shops at a local mall. This way the hotel is reasonably priced. Quick check in and descent rooms although can use a little update. We tried the restaurant only for breakfast and nothing to complain about.

I selected this hotel because it is conveniently located on 28th street which was near my conference. For $100 bucks a night, I would give the hotel an average rating at best. The property is tired and needs some capital improvements. The breakfast in the morning is what is to be expected (sub par) so opt for the Buff Restaurant which is located in the hotel parking lot. My room had a broken fridge which hummed all night, until I turned off. Also had mold growing on walls in bathroom next to the outdated bathroom wall phone. Blow dryer on wall probably hadn't worked in years. OK for a solo stay but I wouldn't stay at this place with my wife.

The hotel is located on a busy main street in Boulder adjacent to restaurants and retail shopping. Easy access to Macy's et al. and short drive to all points of interest. Hotel is quiet in spite of nearby traffic. Clean rooms and kitchen facilities were as expected for a Best Western facility. Overall, a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: The suites have a small but complete kitchen with a full size refrigerator. Visit the Buff Restaura...

This is a motel-style place with ok amenities and a great location, but is pretty dated. There's a shopping mall area right across the street and it's not that far from Pearl St. either (about a 2 min drive). We stayed on the second floor away from the main road and it was pretty quiet. The room itself was dimly lit, but the bathroom area had a bright light. It was a sizable room with a fridge, microwave, and TV (that cut in and out). The bed was not very comfortable and the air/AC was fairly loud. The furniture is old and we killed 2 bugs during our 2-night stay. The service and The Buff restaurant are good, but this place is really only a place to sleep for the night. Expect more and you'll likely be disappointed.

This is a great hotel in a great location in an amazing city! I like that the hotel is near the Boulder Mall downtown and yet close to amenities such as a grocery store and great shopping! I would recommend this hotel as it is also on the same lot as the Buff restaurant which I think is a must visit at least once when in Boulder.

Decided to spend one evening in Boulder, CO, and the Best Western Golden Buff Lodge appeared that it would meet my needs. The motel is in conveniently located to restaurants and shopping. The motel states that it has a hot tub and I was really looking forward to a relaxing soak after hiking all day. Unfortunately the hot tub (and exercise room) is nothing more than a small hot tub in a room that was probably once another motel room before the tub was placed there. And unfortunately the hot tub wasn't in working condition when I visited there. The motel staff was friendly, my room was extremely clean, and a continental breakfast was provided in the morning.

Room Tip: The motel is a little tough to find as the entrance and office blends with the their surroundings, b...

Dear MekaMeka,

Thank you very much for taking the time to review The Golden Buff Lodge. I am sorry the hot tub was unavailable to you during your stay. While our pool is seasonal, the hot tub is open year round. From time to time it requires routine maintenance in order to keep it clean and safe for guests. I am glad to see that you enjoyed the rest of your stay. Thank you for choosing The Buff, and we hope to see you in the future!
