We were only there one night, to celebrate an important birthday. The accomodations were pretty average (it took us a while to figure out how to work the heater in our room--didn't get a turn down as promised, and couldn't find the water to refill our bottle), and the price seemed a little on the above average side. It was the first B&B we've stayed in that had a staff rather than the owner/owners operating it full time. Meeting Gary on Sunday morning however, bumped the experience up and we left feeling good about our stay--and breakfast was delicious.

I found this wonderful B&B on the internet. All of the motels in Boulder seemed uninhabitable for a four night stay when I read the reviews on Trip Advisor!

We were pleasantly surprised to find a very clean, homey, friendly place to stay with a wonderful breakfast- all organic!
The sweet breads & muffins were baked there every night before the breakfast. The bed, linens, towels, shampoo, shower gel & lotion were awesome. I even bought some shampoo & shower gel to take home ($6/bottle). The staff was extremely helpful, curteous & low key! The location was very central- 1 block from University of Colorado & a 10 minute walk to the Pearl St Mall!
They also provided 2 nice computers with internet, a short bread cookie jar always full , free parking & a free 9a meditation class in an on site Zendo! An overall winner!

Just what would be expected for what is advertised, a quiet, homey, zen-like feel. We liked the comfortable bed, quaint, creaky home, but most of all, the workers...they are very sweet, unpretentious, and friendly, many students or past students of the nearby Naropa University (Buddhist).

This is such a nice, quiet place to stay in Boulder. Our room was so pretty and quiet, with a nice balcony. Breakfast was delicious, as were the tea and cookies. All the staff was extremely nice and gracious. As a former resident of Boulder, I was thrilled to find such a nice place to stay, a really nice change from an impersonal hotel. It's a quiet, nice walk to the Pearl Street mall through back streets, and it's also a nice short walk to the campus.

I stayed 4 nights at the Briar Rose, and it was a truly unique experience.
The staff was kind, friendly and helpful, but as opposed to other hotels, where the staff is nice and polite because that’s their job, the staff at the Rose are real people who treat you more like a good friend than a paying costumer. A little example: before I arrived the B&B I sent an e-mail asking them if they knew where I could rent a bike. Instead of giving me an address they suggested that they could rent the bike for me! That is good costumer service, but what is really *amazing* costumer service is this: when I finally arrived the Rose, something had gone wrong with the bike rental and the bike wasn’t ready for me, so instead I was offered to borrow the bike and helmet of one of the staff until they picked up my rental bike!
The Teakettle room where I stayed was clean, comfortable, cozy and rather small, with a private entrance to the backyard. The lack of TV in the room enhances the relaxed, quiet and peaceful feeling of the place, instead there is a bookshelf with books on various topics such as cosmology, zen meditation and mechanics! (Cable TV is available on request, according to the Briar Rose web pages). The public rooms are also packed with books, and there are fresh flowers on the dining table where the delicious organic breakfast is served. They offer a wide selection of teas, and if you don’t know an earl gray from a jasmine tea, the staff will guide you to your new favorite.
If you want an alternative, green and special place to stay while in Boulder, you should definitely try out Briar Rose.
