We recently visited friends in Denver and took a day trip to Estes Park, then ended up in Boulder for dinner. Our friends suggested West End Tavern. It was a Saturday evening and it was packed with people there to watch football, drink & dine. Despite the crowd, we were seated in less than a half hour, and on the rooftop to boot. It was a chilly evening, but the heaters helped. Was very impressed with the beer, wine and cocktail choices. I opted for something called a "Blue-Eyed Blonde." It was Ketel One vodka, limoncello, blueberries, rose water, fresh squeezed lemon, topped with soda water. So delicious. My friends shared wine and my kids got Izze sodas. For dinner, the kids got fish and chips. The grown-ups shared yam chips & guacamole as well as the buffalo wings. Everything was great - fresh and crisp with really good flavors. I stole the cole slaw from my kids. This was not typical cole slaw. It was crispy and I think they might have used rice wine vinegar to dress it. I threw some of the blue cheese dressing for the wings on it and it was delicious! We didn't have desserts, but the adults opted for some of "Tom's Hot Toddy's" to warm us up before the long walk back to our car. So yummy! I wasn't expecting to to be wowed by a crowded sports bar, but I was. Wish I had another trip planned to visit our friends in Denver....rest assured, when I do, we will definitely return to the West End Tavern!
