“Love, love, love this hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2010

Pretty much everything you want in a small city hotel. Great location, services and service. Clean and nicely appointed. Great beds and linens. No noise from the neighbors except through the door.

Walking distance to shopping and restaurants downtown. Fun atmosphere in the lobby with happy hours and live music. Parking is free on the weekends in the underground lot next door.

This will be a short review. If you can afford it, stay at the St. Julien in Boulder, Colorado.
It is gorgeous.

I loved my stay at the St Julien.

The room (king with a view of the flat irons) was smallish but wonderfully furnished and very clean & quiet. The bathroom was large, with a separate shower & tub, and a separate closet for the toilet. I found the mattress a bit soft, but my husband found it perfect. Two pillow types were provided for each of us. Bathrobes and slippers were provided for each of us. Whenever we used a hotel-provided toiletry, it was replenished at housekeeping's next visit. Each day the room was restocked with free bottled water. Wi-fi and local/toll-free calls were complimentary, which I really appreciate when I travel. The radio/alarm clock is iPod-compatible, so you can listen to your own tunes (and charge your device) even if you didn't bring any of your attachments from home.

In short - the hotel did not cut corners, and I love them for that. My only real quibble about the room is that the TV isn't a true flat screen. But in a city like Boulder, I wasn't spending much time watching TV anyway, and for a non-flat-screen TV, the picture quality was pretty good.

Service was great - the front desk and front door staff were always friendly and enthusiastic. Not once did I have to open the front door of the hotel for myself. When there was a short line at the concierge desk, a valet asked if he could help me, which was very kind.

The spa is fantastic. It's clean and well-appointed, and services are reasonably priced. When I accidentally forgot my credit card in my robe pocket, it was found and kept safely aside by a staff member.

There was no charge for use of computer time or printing in the business center. Again, it's great that the hotel doesn't cut corners.

The restaurant is good and accommodating. In spite of the fact that we dined there during the special and popular Sunday-brunch period, the kitchen cheerfully accommodated our special dietary request.

I've stayed in well over a hundred hotels over the past 5 years and without a doubt this is in the top 5 hotels I've stayed in. It is very comfortable, service is excellent, rooms were large and quiet and well furnished with a very nice bathroom. I'd definitely consider staying here again and recommend it to everyone.

We stayed at the St Julien almost a year ago and really enjoyed a beautiful, quiet and relaxing evening there; we live in Denver and it was our first night away from our infant. We were hoping to repeat the experience this year, but were very disappointed. This hotel doesn't know what it wants to be - it advertises as a beautiful, relaxing spa hotel and yet when we checked-in, we were overwhelmed by a sales conference (on a Friday night), and then the hotel lobby hosted a salsa party until 10 pm. This hotel is a very nice option if you are going to be in Boulder (beautiful views, smart rooms), but I would not recommend it as a relaxing (or romantic) night away from Denver.

Definately take advantage of the beutiful spa - I thought a massage would be very high priced - but it wasn't - $130 for 90 minutes of body scrub and massage. The meeting rooms were conveniently located - not far away from the rooms, but no distractions from other hotel guests.
