I had a fantastic stay at the St Julien Hotel and Spa on a business trip in July. The staff was attentive from check in to check out and I would definitely stay there again my next time in Boulder.
I had a few friends also staying at the hotel so I was able to check out a variety of rooms. The room I was staying in was handicapped accessible, so it was very roomy and there was a lot of space to spread out. I had a nice veranda overlooking the courtyard and it was the perfect place to read and relax. Since I did have a handicapped room, I did not have the separate shower and soaking tub. If I had to book it again, I think I would prefer to have the separate tub. Although, all of my friends with the larger bathroom did not have the veranda, while others who had the handicapped bath did have one.
I had an issue with my shower one morning and the staff arrived to my room within minutes to show me how to work it. They had a turndown service every night (complete with chocolate cookies on the bed and soothing music). The spa robes and slippers were a nice touch. Just a warning - the beds are VERY soft, so those with back problems might have some issues.
They had some other nice amenities including free bike rental and concierge service (he gave us some good tips on where to eat, the food in Boulder is great). I did have the opportunity to have a few drinks at the hotel bar, which were very reasonably priced. They also have a popular Happy Hour on Friday evenings.
I did not have the time to use the spa - although, I did think it was a little overpriced ($110 for a massage, $100 for a cocktail pedicure).
As far as the business end is concerned, they had nice meeting facilities. They also had free high speed internet in each of the rooms that was actually high speed!
I would definitely stay at the St Julien again for its great location and the excellent customer service at the hotel.

“Absolutely beautiful”

St. Julien's is now at the top of my list of favorite places to stay. First, Boulder is such a great town, and St Julien's is right in the heart of it. Only a block from the Pearl St. shopping area, and tons of great restaurants within walking distance. Then of course there's the hotel itself. It's so beautiful yet comfortable. The rooms aren't as big as some I've stayed in, but it was very well appointed with the mushiest bed ever! I had a view of the back courtyard and the mountains. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well.
I was in Boulder for a seminar hosted at the hotel, so while I'm sure I would have loved the evening entertainment if I'd been there on vacation, it did keep me up late on Friday night (and I had to catch the shuttle to Denver at 4:30 a.m. the next day!). The only other downside was that the hotel backs up to a busy street, which kind of messes with the ambiance a little but the rooms are well-insulated so there is very little street noise.

“Difficult to beat in Downtown Boulder”

St Julien Hotel and Spa

Jul 20, 2008

The St Julien hotel is a paradise for the hedonist traveller coming to Boulder for business and leisure. Recently built, the interior design is modern and stylish.
The main reception room is dominated by the open gas fireplace and sofas where one can drink a coffee during the day while reading their favourite newspaper. In the evening we enjoyed cocktails and beers in the outside terrace.
We stayed in a King room, which is large enough for a couple. The bathroom was perfect for us, with a large bath and a separate shower.
Our favourite bit of the hotel is the pool: At last, a proper lap pool in a hotel. Right next to it is the hot tub/whirlpool, which is designed like a Roman bath and heated to 105F!
The St Julien is situated in our favourite part of Downtown Boulder between the Boulder Creek path and the pedestrian part of Pearl Street.
We used the bicycles provided by the hotel free of charge to cycle to the Boulder Reservoir along the many cycle paths maintained by the city.
One last word about the staff, always pleasant and helpful, from the moment we arrived to our departure. They helped make our stay a truly memorable one.

“We will never go back”

St Julien Hotel and Spa

I have a complaint to make and that make me really sad. Tonight Friday July 18th 2008, I went to meet a group of friends at your hotel and one of your employee ask me to leave. I believe Friday you have music playing and people drinking and dancing. I have been to your hotel many many time. Dined at the restaurant and had drinks at the bar many time. Always on Fridays and specially in summer time I see kids around having fun with their parents. So today I have with 2 kids with me I didnt even think twice and took them with me. I drove all the way from donwtown Denver to your hotel to meet my friends and had to leave as soon as I arrived. Your employee told me I could not have my kids there because the hotel only allows from 18yo up. My kids were 5 and 2. I saw many kids there with their parents having fun and why I had to leave? oh because I am not a guest at the hotel (no sense) I f kids are not allowed at the party, kids are not allowed at the party. It doesnt matter. Just because they are paying room service?!
I will tell everyone that I know not just in person but also online to NEVER go there because of poor customer service. POOOR customer service.

“Don't leave anything behind!”

Nice hotel, just don't forget anything. I left my prescription eyeglasses in my room, which I called immediately about. The staff found them and assured they would hold them for me, then lost them. I have been through the ringer with them for the past six weeks trying to get reimbursed, (even faxed them the sales receipt) and received much less than an apologetic attitude. I have traveled and stayed in many high-end hotels, and must say I am really disappointed with their handling of this matter. It is ridiculous to lose customers and get bad reviews over not resolving a dispute about a pair of eyeglasses.
