“Scones are worth a visit.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2014

I'll start out by saying I love almond scones but this may be one of the best I've had. Super flaky and just the right amount of sweet. The bakery itself is cute and the patio is great. I did see quite a few people waiting on sandwiches though. Probably wouldn't be great if you're in a hurry.

“On balance, worth the visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

Yes, it appears that the employee sociability at this small bakery might get in the way of those who wish to be on their way. I wish that they showed more interest in me, the customer, and were interested in making recommendations. I was there as a tourist and to observe the goings on. I saw small groups and individuals of regulars who were happy to be there. The coffee was excellent, and the scones looked good. The pumpkin bread was overly chilled, which took some flavor away. I would recommend this eatery if you are relaxed and leisurely.

“Best Coffee in Boulder”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

I do agree with the reviewer who said that the service is slow. With that caveat, the espresso is by far the best in Boulder. Beans are from a small roaster in Denver, and the machine used to make the drinks is one of the best. The place is tiny and usually busy. There are only a few tables, but if it is a nice day there is an outdoor patio that is lovely (I am referring to the Location on West Pearl St.)

“Great food, poor service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013 via mobile

Good is fabulous. Patio is great. Service, however is terrible. They would prefer to chat with each other, rather than service patrons. An ongoing issue so I now buy spruce food at other locations where there is actually service.

“Great place to grab a chai and a treat for breakfast.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

If you are on a morning walk downtown or on a bike ride around the neighborhood, this is a nice place to stop. If you drive, you can pay for parking on the street. There are a few tables inside, and more outside in the sun. This is a counter service bakery and they serve coffee drinks, breakfast croissant sandwiches, quiche, soups, sandwiches, salads, and baked goods. This place isn’t perfect and the staff seems a bit cramped behind the counter, but the service is fast and the food is consistently good.
