My husband and I were in Boulder for just one evening so we wanted a special dining destination. The pasta place at the end of the block had a line out the door and I didn't want to wait, so we walked down the street to Pastavino instead. I liked the clean, modern ambience but almost immediately, I knew we'd made a mistake. Our waiter seemed completely bored. Perhaps he was stoned. Hard to tell. He was so - unhelpful. We asked if bread came with the meal. He didn't know and just pointed to the (stale) breadsticks on the table. When we reviewed the wine list, we discovered there was not one cabernet sauvignon. Zero. There was a cab/merlot blend (blech) but not a straight-up cab on the list. Yes, I know cab is paired more frequently with steak than pasta but you could select one of the lighter cab varietals for your menu. The pasta was just ok - nothing special - - and the meal was far overpriced for what we got. Note to the waiter: big mistake to treat us so dismissively. I tip very well for excellent service, even if the food is poor. Note to the owners: train your staff in customer service. Note to potential diners: pass on this restaurant.
