“I love this place!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

This is a real live old-style motel, with parking right in front of the door to your room. I stayed in the smallest room in the place, and it was big enough for just me - a double bed and small bathroom, and very clean. No air conditioning in my room, though, so if you are the sort that needs a cold room to sleep, you should stay somewhere else on a warm evening. Plenty of fans, though, and the windows open, so I was quite comfortable even though I stayed during the heat wave of August 2012. There was a TV (with cable), and although this was a very simple place, it had all I needed and loads of atmosphere.

Each room has at least one chair outside in front of the room, and some of the larger rooms have a little patio type area that's great for hanging out in the evening. There are picnic tables scattered around, and a big field behind the room where kids can run and play. They do allow dogs.

The staff is terrific - very friendly and helpful. They have a little complimentary breakfast that includes fruit, pastries and oatmeal. They also have coffee available all morning and tea until 11 pm. The staff sleeps right there in the office, so they are always on hand if you have a problem.

A nice city park just across the street is a great place for walking or running. There is also very easy access from here to the Peak to Peak Highway that avoid driving back through Boulder.

I actually forgot to review this place right after we stayed, but it was just what we needed. Well furnished and clean - we only had a fan (no aircon) so when it's hot, it can be a bit stuffy.
Staff are extremely friendly and helpful in directing you wherever you want to go. Nice quiet location and you can walk into town from here. We had a car so we also drove in in the evening.
Very scenic and picturesque. Perfect for the price!

These are old-time tourist cabins, but with real character -- knotty pine or cedar wood inside, and well kept. Our room had a flat screen TV and a fridge, very handy. Also handy is the location -- at the edge of town right up against the foothills, yet a short walk to downtown. We tubed down Boulder Creek -- the park is right across the street. A grassy area behind the units was perfect for our dog to catch the Frisbee, and the motel is dog-friendly. The main downside is there is no A/C, which would not usually be a big deal but it topped 100 the weekend we were there. Still, it was bearable. It was a tradeoff for the location, basically. Negatives: the WiFi, which apparently emanates from the office, does not make it all the way across the parking lot to some units. Our Mac could pick it up, but not the iPad. Anyway, not a huge deal. Weird: you have to go into the office to ask for ice, and then the attendant gives you a little bucket of ice. I really enjoyed FOTM. I just wish it hadn't been so hot.

Our July, 2012 stay was completely pleasant at this quaint, motel that is simple but clean and adequate in a serene location that is convenient to everything. Staff was helpful and friendly. Our plane was delayed and staff made special provision for our late night arrival.

Absolutely loved our 6 night stay at FOTMM. Great location with simple, comfortable, clean accomodations and friendly, helpful staff. Boulder is very pedestrian and cycle friendly. Rented bikes from University Cycles. Riding bikes to farmers market and people watching in the park was fun. Lolita's- great 24 hr market/deli for stocking mini fridge and hiking snacks. Lots of trailheads easily accessible in area, really enjoyed hiking & biking during day and sampling beer at different microbreweries at night. Shine, near the courthouse, was our favorite brew and food. Recommend Foolish Craig's, Mountain Sun, The Sink and Laughing Goat. Hiking at Chautauqua Park and Red Rocks trail offer great views city. Be sure to drive Trail Ridge Rd at Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park, it's a must see. Stop by Oskar Blues in Lyons. No worries with no A/C, wasn't a problem even in July! Thanks for the wonderful anniversary trip, -The De La Garza's

A friend and I stayed here for 4 nights. No air conditioning, but we were gone during the day so the night time was bearable during the summer heat wave. Very conveniently located, getting to our destinations was easy.
The rooms weren't fancy, but they were comfortable.
My only qualm was the phone call I received after checkout accusing me of breaking the showers soap shelf (which was cracked upon arrival). Other than that, loved it. Plan on staying again, but doing a thorough inventory of the condition of the rooms.

Bridgette L, Manager at Foot of the Mountain Motel, responded to this review, August 4, 2012
Our front desk staff is required to inspect all rooms when housekeeping is done cleaning to insure the room is 'rent-ready'. With a surprising turn of events, between this guest and the one previous, we had a shift in housekeeping staff. During this busy time of training, the room went uninspected because we wanted to get the new guest in as soon as possible. The current housekeeper, assumed we were aware of the broken surround and though it was awaiting repair. This guest must have assumed the same thing because it was not mentioned once during her stay. She also didn't require any housekeeping during her stay so the condition of the shower remained. We think 'accused' is a really strong word here. When I became aware, during my inspection of the room after this guest checked out, I calmly called the guest and asked her what had happened. She said it was like that when she checked in. I replied to her my apologies for the condition of the shower area and for not being fully aware of the situation and hung up. After putting all the necessary details together, we realized where our loophole was and resolved the situation. Including the repair to the shower area.

My husband and I made reservations at FOTMM based on online reviews and were not disappointed. It is definitely not super posh, but has everything that you need. The rooms were basic, quaint and clean. The breakfast was sufficient. The staff was super friendly. The location was awesome. It was literally steps to the Boulder Creek Path (great for running and walking), a few trailheads were close for hiking, and it was about a ten to fifteen minute walk to Pearl Street. We knew going in that there was no air conditioning; but coming from the east coast, it wasn't bad, considering there was almost zero humidity! A great deal and a great experience.
