We were on Pearl St. on a busy Saturday night in July, during what appeared to be an art show. We went into Trattoria after the usual dinner crowd - around 8:00 - but because of the night and the crowd downtown, it was still pretty busy. The restaurant management apparently didn't plan on much of a crowd that night, because they were very understaffed. The service was very slow, and at one point we witnessed servers practically running to get tables cleared and to serve customers. That said, our waitress, Megan, was great. She was very polite, friendly and attentive (as much as she could be), and apologized several times about having to wait. When she brought our second round of drinks, which took a while to arrive, she said they were on the house because we had to wait for them.
Our food was fantastic. I had the shrimp scampi - one of the best I've had. My somewhat picky teenaged son had the lasagna and said it was "amazing"; my other son had a large bowl of minestrone soup and loved it. I wish I could remember what my husband had, but whatever it was, he said it was excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant; just be prepared to stay a while if it's a busy night.
