“Great Room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2009

Room was very clean and arranged logically. Really appreciated the combo TV stand and chest-of-drawers. The drawers did not require very much bending over to access which is a nice touch for ederly occupants. Each day when we returned, the room was clean and restopcked and looked and smelled fresh. Easy, temperature controlled, access to the casinos/restaurants kept us in short sleeves during most of our stay. We will stay here again this summer

This hotel/casino is in the newer part of town - very nice large rooms. Very clean and reasonable priced. We are not gamblers so we took the free bus thru town and enjoyed the view. Good buffet for cheap at the Rivieria.

  • Liked — good location - the scenery in this area is fantastic
  • Disliked — enjoyed this entire area and hotel - no dislikes at all

A nice surprise: comfortable, very clean, good size room (actual king bed); flat-screen plasma(?) tv, granite bathroom counters and larger than normal complementary toiletries were a pleasant surprise. Very gracious staff on check in and check out. Would (will) stay again!

If you are visiting the Denver area and want to get away and gamble and learn about the mining days in Colorado visit Black Hawk and Central City. There are many hotels and casinos in both towns. We chose Colorado Station for its location on main street and its room price. Very nice large spacious rooms with great beds. Checking in was so easy. The parking and check in desk is under the hotel below street level. No charge for parking. Elevators go up to your rooms. Access is controlled in the elevator by your room card, Food was good, not great. Casinos were clean and staff was friendly. No complaints. Would return.

  • Liked — Large spacious clean rooms
  • Disliked — Food quality coule be better

Organized an overnight b-day getaway for friends from Denver - none had ever stayed overnight in Blackhawk / Central City so was a new experience for all of us. The rooms are large and comfortable, although the room was a little hot and stuffy - even though I had the heat off and the window cracked. Still got a decent night's sleep. Decor is modern, TV has all the options, and bathroom was nice as well with granite counters. Only complaint is the door to the bathroom: it is a French door style that does not latch or lock, in fact in all our rooms there was about a 3/4 inch gap between the doors when closed... hello? what's that all about?

Location is great: the Riviera casino is just across from Isle of Capri which is connected to Central Station via an enclosed bridge. Just up the hill a bit are the Mardi Gras, Lodge, and Ameristar casinos. The Ameristar is definitely the most impressive and nicest of all of them - will be curious to see how the hotel portion finishes out. As of Jan 1 08 the elevator shaft is all that is finished but that place will be HUGE when finished. Ate dinner at Timberline Grill in the Ameristar - great food overall ranging from $9 burger to $35 filets, but enjoyed the service and atmosphere.

Beautiful hotel room located at a wonderful spot in Blackhawk! Easy access to other casinos in Blackhawk & Central City. However, when we finally made it back to our rooms to sleep, the room was uncomfortably hot, in November, with no heat on. The bed was as hard as a rock & the pillows gave no support at all. Next time, I probably wouldn't spend my money on a room, just drive back to town.

  • Liked — Location & a quick get away from Denver
  • Disliked — Uncomfortable beds & very uncomfortable heat in the rooms
